    Operations Senior Officer (Training)

    Role Objectives

    • The Operations Senior Officer will work under the direct supervision & guidance of the Operations Manager.
    • The primary objective of this role is to provide operational support to the training program, ensuring its smooth implementation & effectiveness.

    This includes:

    • Support the Operations Manager with the delivery of CMD (levels 1, 2 & 3) & IEDD basic training courses to police & NSCDC personnel.
    • When required, take on the role of the Trainer for specific modules, as directed by the Operations Manager.
    • Contribute to the development & maintenance of training materials, schedules & resource management.
    • Contribute to the implementation of Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA / QC) processes.
    • Support the National Mine Action Centre (NMAC) in operational planning.
    • Contribute to the development of National Mine Action Standards (NMAS) or National Technical Standards & Guidelines (NTSGs) & Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as directed.

    Responsibilities
    Training delivery support:

    • Maintain accurate records of training attendance, performance & feedback, as directed.
    • Support the delivery of practical exercises & assessments, as required.
    • Coordination with the police & NSCDC on addressing any issues affecting the training delivery requirements.

    Training development & planning support:

    • Support the development & maintenance of comprehensive training schedules & modules, ensuring they are up to date & reflect any changes.
    • Support in the identification & procurement of necessary equipment required for the training.

    Monitoring & QA / QC support:

    • Contribute to the implementation of the monitoring & QA / QC plan.
    • Support the development of assessment tools & conduct regular evaluations, mentorship initiatives for the police & NSCDC personnel, as directed by the Operations Manager.

    NMAC support:

    • Provide operational support to the NMAC in operational planning, as required.
    • Contribute to the preparation of reports & presentations for the NMAC.

    Standards development support:

    • Support the Operations Manager in the development or review of NMAS or NTSGs & SOP. This may involve research & document management.

    Operational support:

    • Draft reports, briefing notes & summary documents related to operational activities, including the training project.
    • Liaise with authorities, affected communities & other stakeholders & organize meetings if requested by the Operations Manager.
    • Collect & record operational data using the Information Management System (IMSMA) & related tools.
    • Support the preparation of operational updates, highlighting successes & challenges.
    • Perform other tasks as requested by the Operations Manager.

    Project reporting:

    • The Operations Senior Officer will work under the direct supervision & guidance of the Operations Manager.

    Key Competencies

    • First level University Degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required or advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) combined with 2 years of relevant experience or military or police experience with at least 8 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Relevant experience is defined as experience in operations management & support, preferably in a training or capacity building context.
    • A minimum of 2 years of proven & applicable experience (within the past 10 years) in providing training courses to national authorities, including the police or the military is required.
    • Experience in providing CMD 3 & IEDD basic courses is required.
    • Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Level 3 & Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) Level 2 certification is required, qualification must be from organisations that train & educate EOD Specialists in accordance with IMAS standards test & evaluation protocol 09 . 30 / 01 / 2022.
    • Individuals are responsible for providing proof of completion.
    • Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) Level 3 is desired.
    • Fluency in English (writing, speaking & reading) is required.

    Team management:

    • This role has no team management responsibility.
