    Field Officer - Agro Operations

Zaph & Zoe Agro Exports is looking for a self-driven, results-oriented Field Officer who leads by example, takes initiative, and gets things done without needing constant supervision. If you're passionate about excellence and thrive in the field managing operations independently, this role is for you.

    The Role:

We need someone who can own field operations in their assigned area—someone who sees what needs to be done and makes it happen. You'll be ensuring quality, managing relationships with suppliers, and solving problems before they become issues.

    What You'll Do:

    Quality Supervision & Control:

    • Inspect and verify product quality at source (farms, processing sites)
    • Ensure all products meet our export standards before acceptance
    • Reject substandard products and provide feedback to suppliers
    • Conduct random quality checks throughout the supply chain
    • Document quality reports and maintain records

    Field Leadership:

    • Coordinate with farmers, suppliers, and local aggregators
    • Lead by example—show people how things should be done
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with farming communities
    • Train farmers/suppliers on quality requirements
    • Resolve conflicts and handle issues professionally

    Operations Coordination:

    • Oversee collection, sorting, cleaning, and packaging at field level
    • Coordinate logistics: transportation, storage, delivery schedules
    • Manage field workers and casual labor when needed
    • Track inventory and product movement from farms to warehouse
    • Ensure timely delivery of products to processing/export facilities

    Proactive Problem-Solving:

    • Anticipate challenges (weather, supply shortages, quality issues)
    • Develop and implement solutions independently
    • Report critical issues immediately with recommended actions
    • Find ways to improve processes and efficiency
    • Adapt quickly to changing conditions

    Communication & Reporting:

    • Provide daily/weekly reports on field activities
    • Update management on product availability, quality, and market conditions
    • Maintain clear communication with headquarters
    • Document all transactions and activities
    • Be responsive to calls, messages, and urgent requests

    What We're Looking For:

    Must-Have Qualities:

    • Strong Leadership – People naturally follow your lead. You command respect through your actions and integrity
    • Self-Starter Mentality – You don't wait to be told what to do. You see gaps and fill them
    • Quality-Obsessed – You have high standards and won't compromise on quality
    • Highly Responsive – You answer calls, reply to messages, and act urgently when needed
    • Proactive Thinker – You spot problems before they happen and fix them
    • Independent Worker – You thrive with minimal supervision and make sound decisions on your own
    • Passionate & Committed – You genuinely care about the success of our operations and take pride in your work

    Required Experience & Skills:

    • 2-5 years’ experience in agricultural field operations, quality control, or farm management
    • Understanding of agricultural commodities (grains, seeds, produce)
    • Experience working directly with farmers and rural communities
    • Strong inspection and quality assessment skills
    • Ability to work in rural/remote areas
    • Basic smartphone skills (WhatsApp, photos, simple reporting apps)
    • Physical fitness (fieldwork involves walking, standing, lifting)

    Nice-to-Have:

    • Experience in agro export or commodity trading
    • Knowledge of quality standards for export products
    • Agricultural background or training
    • Local language fluency (beyond English)
    • Experience managing teams

    What You're NOT:

    • Someone who needs detailed daily instructions
    • Someone who waits for problems to escalate before acting
    • Someone who makes excuses when things get tough
    • Someone who avoids responsibility or blames others
    • Someone who's only in it for the paycheck

Location: Kano state - Field-based position
