    Legal Manager - Corporate Commercial

    Key Responsibilities

    • Draft, review, and negotiate EPCC contracts and commercial agreements (JV, technology licensing, financing, offtake, procurement, services, etc.).
    • Provide legal advisory on transaction structuring and regulatory compliance.
    • Support contract implementation, governance, and risk management processes.
    • Handle negotiations with partners, vendors, customers, and regulators.
    • Support mediation and arbitration proceedings when required.
    • Liaise with external counsel and regulatory authorities.
    • Present legal matters clearly to business executives in practical terms.
    • Knowledge of FIDIC is necessary.

    Qualifications

    • LL.B. Degree from a reputable Nigerian or international university.
    • Qualified member of a Bar (Nigeria, UK, USA, etc.).
    • Postgraduate qualification in Oil & Gas, Commercial Law, or Contract Law is an advantage.
    • Exposure to international law firms and UK/US commercial law is desirable.

    Key Requirements:

    • 8–12 years’ experience as a Contracts & Procurement / Commercial Lawyer, preferably in large EPCC projects ($100M+).
    • Experience in international contracts and import of capital goods/materials.
    • Preferably with Oil & Gas (Downstream), Petrochemicals, Fertilisers, LNG project exposure.
    • Strong expertise in commercial contracts, risk management, regulatory compliance, and contract governance.
    • Excellent drafting, negotiation, advocacy, and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage claims, change orders, liquidated damages, warranties, guarantees, financing, arbitration, and dispute resolution.
    • Business-oriented approach with focus on risk mitigation and litigation avoidance.
