    Head Business Development

    Job Summary

    As Head Business Development, you will play a critical role in generating new business ideas and devise strategies for acquiring new clients. You will also lead the effective management of business relationships between the company and its clients to ensure excellent service delivery. You will be heading a team of other sales and marketing professionals, harnessing their individual strengths to selling our products & services in a simplified way to different classes of clients.

    • Develop and take to the market at least one product per quarter to meet to the needs of our clients.
    • Build relationships with other capital market operators in order to develop a pool of reliable counterparties for trade executions and other market engagements.
    • Cross-sell all products and services of the group.
    • Regularly participate in industry-based events to increase our brand visibility.
    • Responsible for originating investment ideas from the listed and unlisted universe for internal and external clients
    • Generate income and meet income target in line with the set-target determined at the beginning of an appraisal period.
    • Aggressive marketing of the company’s products and services.
    • Effectively profile prospects/clients, analyze their financial risk appetite, needs and goals for investing and provide guidance to them as regards their investments.
    • Follow up on clients’ mandates to ensure they are promptly executed and error free.
    • Maintain a cordial business relationship with all clients whilst ensuring regular communication with assigned clients.
    • Effectively work with members of the team in handling all relationship management issues, such that all clients have access to more than one account officer at any given time.
    • Perform in-depth analysis of securities before and after initial purchase.
    • Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities for their risks and likely returns, driven principally by a financial analysis of the company.
    • Interface with trading, and research teams to offer relationship management services to other cadre of clients.
    • Preparation of periodic management reports for unit activities to the Managing Director.
    • Sound knowledge of FMDQ fixed income securities market.
    • Good presentation skills (effective use of the Microsoft PowerPoint).
    • Ability to understand stock market, macroeconomic trends and interpret them in an easy-to-understand form to clients.
    • Good knowledge of the workings of the AFEX Commodities exchange and its product offerings.
    • Engage regularly with our internal, external clientele base and the investing public via investors forum, webinars, roadshows etc.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or industry-relevant equivalent.
    • CIS Member is a plus.
    • Minimum of 8 years experience in Sales Trader or Business Development, with a proven track record of negotiating and closing deals in the financial industry.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
    • Skilled in budget preparation and management
    • Entrepreneurial and Business acumen
    • Ability to conduct effective market research and derive useful insights from it.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; can communicate clearly and effectively.
    • Strong skills in strategic thinking, data analysis and creative problem-solving
    • High sense of ownership, autonomy and self-motivation
