    Cashier

    Job Purpose

    • The Cashier will be responsible for handling customer transactions efficiently and accurately while delivering excellent customer service.
    • The role also involves supporting front-of-house operations, maintaining cash controls, and ensuring a smooth payment and billing experience for guests at the café, restaurant, and bar.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accurately process cash, card, and mobile money transactions.
    • Issue receipts, invoices, and refunds when necessary.
    • Manage customer tabs and ensure accurate billing for food and bar services.
    • Handle point-of-sale (POS) systems efficiently and reconcile daily sales.
    • Maintain cash float, ensure correct cash handling, and prepare end-of-shift cash reports.
    • Answer basic customer inquiries regarding menu items, promotions, and pricing.
    • Coordinate with wait staff, baristas and bartenders to ensure accurate order billing.
    • Monitor and manage reservations and takeaway/delivery orders as required.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier counter and work area.
    • Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
    • Support café operations during peak hours, including assisting with serving when needed.
    • Report discrepancies, customer complaints, or technical issues with POS to the Manager.

    Requirements

    • OND / HND or equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting. Hospitality Management, or related field is an added advantage.
    • Previous experience as a Cashier or in a customer-facing role (hospitality experience preferred).
    • Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced café, restaurant, and bar environment.
    • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and evenings as required.
    • Integrity, honesty, and a strong sense of responsibility.

    Desirable:

    • Basic knowledge of food and beverage services.
    • Experience in handling bar tabs and split billing.
    • Team player with a positive and proactive attitude.
