    Social Worker

    Duty Station: Monguno, Borno State– North East Nigeria (100% field)
    Starting date: A.S.A.P

    General context of the project
    The Boko Haram armed opposition insurgency started in 2009 and Maiduguri was the epicentre of the armed conflict. The armed conflict later spread to all twenty-seven (27) Local Government Areas (LGAs)
    of Borno State, North East Nigeria. The conflict took an international dimension as it spread to the neighbouring countries of Cameroun, Niger and Chad, resulting in the displacement of millions of people
    across all four frontiers. The Armed Opposition Group (AOG) has been killing people in both rural and urban centres in their quest to form a hairline Islamic State in the north east of Nigeria. A high number
    of towns and cities have been burned and destroyed. Social services and amenities have also been destroyed and are now non-existent. Agricultural activities which used to be the source of food security
    and livelihoods among the rural communities of the North East are no longer existent. Joint military operations by Cameroun, Nigeria, Chad and Niger have resulted in the liberation of 15 LGAs.

    Tasks and responsibilities
    Shelter Social Mobilizer is to assist in the day to day implementation of the shelter project portfolios according to plan of action, assist in developing work plans of shelter activates.
    The Social Mobilizer will be responsible to promote and share ideas for technical improvement in relation to both the “hard” and “soft” components of Shelter programming. The Social Mobilizer will be
    under the supervision of Field Coordinator, ensure that gender and protection mainstreaming are carried out at the field

    Responsibilities;

    • Adhere to INTERSOS policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines as well Government rules and regulations.
    • Conduct social mobilization and awareness session in Reception Center
    • Assistance to technical staff members especially in cash for work activities
    • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
    • Conduct vulnerability screening of new arrivals at reception center
    • Referral of vulnerable individuals to specialize services according to their needs
    • Monitoring and follow up of the vulnerable individuals upon reception of services
    • Coordination with other protection actors
    • Actively participation in protection awareness events for beneficiaries in the reception centers
    • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better
    • ways to assist.
    • Actively participate in capacity building trainings, workshops and seminars organized by INTERSOS.
    • Ensure that gender and protection mainstreaming are carried out at the field level.
    • Daily reporting to Field Coordinator
    • Coordinate with other INTERSOS staff of other projects such as CCCM.
    • Produce a weekly activity report and weekly plan of action

    Required Qualifications

    • BA/BSC or higher degree
    • Experience in working at distribution sites
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills
    • Experience of working as social worker or similar background
    • Experience in performing assigned tasks in an efficient and effective manner.

    Brief Conditions

    • INTERSOS reserve right to transfer position as per need / project demand any time during the project.
    • Staff will responsible to manage for his/her own accommodation / food at duty station;
    • For any sort of field / official visit, travel to & from will responsibility of INTERSOS including food allowance but travelling from home to duty station will be staff own responsibility (in some cases
    • facilitation could be provided as per urgency)
    • No TA/DA will be provided for the field work for which staff will be appointed;
