    Key Accounts Executive

    Job description

    Level: L6 (M3)
    Reports To: Key Accounts Manager

    Context/Scope:

    A key contributor to the success of the GNPLC strategic plan is an effective & flexible field sales force demonstrating industry leadership in both volume driving & brand building activity.

    Financial
    Responsible for sending monthly statement to customers
    Liaison with customer on prompt payment of invoices

    Market Complexity
    Customers are spread in different geographies. Ability to manage relationship and activation of customers across different geographies

    Purpose of Role

    Top 3 Accountabilities

    •     Availability of all listed products, all pack sizes and formats in assigned outlet(s)
    •     Sales volume growth. Market share growth is achieved via adequate forward stock, dominant share (share equal to or higher than rate of sale) of available space(s), cold and ambient merchandising and excellent execution of promotions.
    •     Activation and brilliant merchandising of promotional activities to ensure strong visibility in the outlet(s)

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    • § B.Sc with minimum 2 years sales experience.
    • § Strong candidates who have strong tenacity to learn, but without the prerequisite experience may be considered
    • § Direct experience of Diageo Way of Selling capabilities with a focus on Sales Driver execution at the point of purchase, managing relationships including structured call, persuasive selling and brand passion
    • § Good oral and written communication skills
    • § High degree of integrity

    Shared Office Administrator

    Level: L6 (MS1)
    Reports To:Plant Manager and Brewing Manager (Lagos Brewery)

    Context/Scope

    Lagos Brewery with over 180 staff and about 40 Managers is responsible for brewing and packaging weekly average of over 50 hl of Guinness products. The site also hosts over 50% of the Sales and Distribution activities.

    Market Complexity
    Interacts with Heads of Department, Directors and Senior Managers across the company on a daily basis.

    Leadership Responsibilities

    • The role also interacts with internal and external customers in the Brewery as well as the other units of Diageo business.
    • Purpose of Role To coordinate activities for enhanced effectiveness of operations in the offices by combining accurate secretarial duties with ability to organise smooth workflow for the Brewery Managers.

    Top 4 Accountabilities

    •     Collate data to update Perfect Plant Dash Boards in Lagos Brewery, as well as departmental Gift and E ntertainment Registers.
    •     Manage and control use of the Brewery Bar and assets, network office equipment in the offices, coordinate Brewery Supply events.
    •     General Office Administration including an up to date register for outgoing documents.
    •     Manage and update PM’s diary/calendar, also a stop gap for Brewery Managers’ travel arrangements.

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    •     HND/BSc in Secretarial Studies or Social Sciences calibre.
    •     Professional Qualification in Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management (Minimum of Graduate Membership) added advantage.
    •     Proven ability to persuade, influence and build credibility at all levels and with all functions.
    •     Valued coach with minimum of 10 years working experience in manufacturing concern.

    Barriers to Success in Role

    •     Lack of initiative, commitment to perform at the highest level and lack of understanding of key business drivers.
    •     Also inadequate experience, skill, Integrity and level of training of the employee could pose challenge to success.

    Statutory Accounts Manager

    Job description

    Level: L5 (M1)
    Reports To: Finance Reporting Manager

    Purpose

    •     A Record to Report (RTR) role primarily responsible for the preparation of statutory financial statements
    •     To ensure that Reporting activities in market are carried out at world standard level and all reports done are at a high quality level.
    •     To notify and ensure compliance by the business with changes in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and financial reporting regulations in Nigeria.

    Context

    • Guinness Nigeria is a leading brewer and marketer of premium alcoholic and malt drinks in Nigeria. It has the vision of being the Nigeria’s No 1 brewer.
    • Diageo Plc owns a majority percentage investment in Guinness Nigeria and continues to invest heavily in capex which is critical to the journey to No 1. Diageo Plc is quoted on the US and London Stock Exchanges while Guinness Nigeria Plc (the subsidiary) is quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. GN therefore is required to comply with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Control Assessment and Risk Management (CARM) and local statutory requirements.
    • Diageo Africa and Guinness Nigeria are aligned on this growth agenda and in recognition of this have approved the role of a Statutory Accounts Manager to implement policies as they relate to the Record To Report processes.

    Financial

    •     Ensure Controls around Record to Report (RtR) meets a minimum of ‘satisfactory’ CARM rating.

    Market Complexity

    • The Statutory Accounts Manager is required to play a significant leadership role within the Financial Control team to ensure that the RTR processes are continuously optimised
    • This role supports the timely and accurate reporting of statutory financial information to management, Diageo and the public. Also ensures that the company complies with the statutory reporting requirements by leveraging the RTR processes.

    Functional Capabilities

    •     Applies accounting policies and standards to performance reporting:

    Technical expertise, planning, business reporting and statutory reporting

    •     Uses a thorough understanding of the business processes, expected controls and risks to undertake activities which maintain shareholder value and mitigate against risk:
    •     Protects the asset value of all data held in the organisation. Generates objective measures to ensure that absolute data quality is known and maintained at an acceptable level
    •     Effective cash risk management whilst maintaining the integrity of the control environment

    Top 3 Accountabilities

    •     Preparation of monthly statutory financial statements based on IFRS and regulatory requirements in Nigeria.
    •     Preparation of all aspects of quarterly and annual financial statements including all supporting schedules for Guinness Nigeria Plc and Diageo Brands Nigeria Ltd
    •     Stay current with statutory rules and regulations in Nigeria and determine the impact changes to the rules and regulations have on Guinness Nigeria’s business.

    Qualifications

    •     Graduate calibre in Accountancy or related field plus membership of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
    •     Minimum of 7 years post qualification experience in Financial Accounting with proven integrity.

    Key Skills & Experience

    •     Ability to take commercial insights and translate into the Organisation & People Agenda including good customer service.
    •     Proven ability to facilitate, persuade, influence and build credibility with all levels and all functions.
    •     Analytical, interpretative and decision-making skills.

    Knowledge

    •     Sound IT knowledge in the use of outlook (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
    •     Working knowledge in accounting package- RTR SAP.

    Barriers to Success in Role

    •     Inability to manage and influence a spectrum of key Innovation stakeholders and elicit buy-in and support.
    •     Inability to learn fast, adaptation to a new, flexible role and manage relationships with varied stakeholders.
