Role Overview
The Senior Finance Associate will play a critical role in building and scaling Salario’s finance operations as a fast-growing payroll and workforce operation. This role is responsible for financial planning and analysis, regulatory compliance, treasury and cash flow management, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting across Salario’s entities and payment flows.
You will work closely with leadership, product, and operations teams to provide accurate financial insights that support strategic decision-making, manage complex payroll and cross-border fund flows, and maintain strong financial controls in a highly regulated environment.
This role is ideal for a finance professional who is comfortable operating in a high-growth, technology-driven company with exposure to payroll, payments, FX, and global workforce operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning, Analysis, and Reporting
- Prepare monthly budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash flow projections, including variance and trend analysis.
- Produce accurate and timely management accounts, financial statements, and performance reports.
- Support consolidation of group accounts across operating and holding entities.
- Provide actionable financial insights to support pricing decisions, product expansion, and operational efficiency.
- Assist in preparing financial reports for investors, partners, auditors, and regulators.
Financial Controls and Systems Management
- Maintain and continuously improve financial reporting systems to support scale, automation, and accuracy.
- Establish and enforce strong financial controls across payroll processing, expense management, and revenue recognition.
- Review finance workflows and recommend process improvements to reduce manual effort and risk.
- Oversee general ledger management and ensure timely reconciliation of all sub-ledgers.
Treasury, Cash, and Payroll Fund Management
- Support treasury operations, including payroll prefunding, liquidity planning, and fund flow management.
- Monitor daily and weekly cash positions across bank accounts and payment rails.
- Prepare weekly fund flow and liquidity reports for management.
- Perform weekly and monthly bank and payment processor reconciliations.
Regulatory Compliance and Statutory Reporting
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax and statutory obligations, including VAT, WHT, and other applicable filings.
- Support compliance with financial regulations relevant to payroll, payments, and operations.
- Assist with external audits, regulatory reviews, and internal control assessments.
- Help implement and monitor finance policies to ensure consistency across entities and jurisdictions.
Operational Finance Support
- Review and process payment vouchers with proper documentation and approval controls.
- Support payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliation of payroll liabilities.
- Provide financial data to support partnerships, pricing models, and new market launches.
- Perform other finance-related duties as assigned by the Finance Lead or Management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Solid understanding of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
