    Director, Physical Planning

    Functions/Duties

    • The Director of Physical Planning is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day running of the Physical Planning Department.

    The duties includes as follows:

    • Planning and controlling the technical activities of the physical planning of the Polytechnic.
    • Advising the Rector on the status of the acquired Polytechnic assets in terms of quality and quantity as the case may be.
    • Preparing the departmental budget and exercise budgetary control.
    • All other duties as contained in the scheme of service and as may be assigned from time to time.
    • He/she is answerable to the Rector.

    Applicant for the post of Director, Physical Planning is expected to possess the following:

    • To hold a good Bachelor's Degree in either Building Technology, Architecture, Estate Management, Town Planning or Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution of higher learning with at least 17 years cognate experience or Masters Degree in the relevant discipline with at least 15 years cognate experience.
    • Must be member of relevant professional body.
    • Must not be more than 55 years of age as at the time of assumption of duty.
    • Must be a person who is not likely to pursue racial, ethical, political, religious or other sectional interest.
    • Must possess NYSC Discharge Certificate or Certificate of Exemption.
    • Must be ready to encourage the on-going Federal Government change programme in the Polytechnic sector.
    • Must be morally sound and free from financial embarrassment.
    • Must enjoy excellent physical and mental health.
    • Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

    Terms of Appointment/Condition of Service

    • The appointment is for the initial term of four (4) years renewable subject to satisfactory performance for another final term of four (4) years.
    • The salary is CONTEDISS 15 and the appointee shall enjoy other benefits of the office as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government.

    Job Details

    The Rector:

    • The Rector is the Chief Executive, Administrative, and Accounting Officer of the Polytechnic.
    • He is responsible to the Governing Council as provided in the Federal Polytechnics Act, Decree 33 of 1979 as amended (1993).
    • He is responsible for all matters relating to the day-today management and operations in the Polytechnic.
    • In addition to proven management and leadership experience, the successful candidate must demonstrate passion for academic endeavour.

    Qualities and Qualifications

    The candidates for the post is expected to possess the following academic qualifications and personal qualities:

    • Must hold a minimum of a Master Degree in areas related to any of the programmes offered in the Polytechnic from a recognized institution of higher learning plus at least 17 years cognate professional and academic experience preferably from a Polytechnic.
    • Must be a Chief Lecturer with not less than five(5) years experience on that grade.
    • Must not be more than 60 years of age as at the time of assumption of duty.
    • Must demonstrate evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership, initiative and creativity in policy formulation, good human relations and positive managerial attributes
    • Must provide evidence of membership of reputable professional body(s) in Nigeria.
    • Must provide evidence of scholarly publication in reputable journals as well as presentation of invited papers at educational conferences, seminars and/or workshops.
    • Must be able to attract research grants and development facilities to the Polytechnic.
    • Must be a person with initiative and vision for sustaining the accelerated pace of development of the Polytechnic even under financial and other constraints.
    • Must be a fair-minded and dynamic individual with an impeccable reputation.
    • Must be a person who is not likely to pursue racial, ethical, political, religious or other sectional interest.
    • Must possess NYSC Discharge Certificate or Certificate of Exemption.
    • Must be ready to encourage the on-going Federal Government change programme in the Polytechnic sector.
    • Must be morally sound and free from financial embarrassment.
    • Must enjoy excellent physical and mental health.
    • Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT),
    • Possession of PhD in relevant discipline would be an added advantage.

    Terms of Appointment/Condition of Service

    • The salary is consolidated and the appointee shall enjoy other benefits of the office as may be approved from time to time by the Federal Government.

    • Previous employer(s) and post(s) held with dates.
    • Present employment to include status, salary, dates and any other relevant experience.
    • Evidence of Community Services.
    • Statement of vision for the Polytechnic.
    • Other activities outside current employment.
    • Names and addresses of three referees (Employer, Educational and personal) who should forward confidential report directly to the Registrar, Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure, Jigawa State. Such referees should be able to attest to the candidate’s claims for high academic, management capabilities, and personal integrity.

    Applicants will be required to provide the original of their certificates and other relevant documents at the interview, Photocopies of credentials will not be accepted. Applicants must be ready to support every claim with documentary evidence.
