    Gastrointestinal Surgeon and Endoscopist

    Job Purpose

    • The Gastrointestinal Surgeon and Endoscopist will lead the diagnosis, surgical treatment, and endoscopic management of complex gastrointestinal diseases. The role encompasses the management of GI conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach, intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and GI bleeding.
    • The role holder will combine clinical excellence in surgical and endoscopic procedures with leadership and strategic development of the GI services. This includes participating in multidisciplinary care pathways, promoting best practices, and mentoring future clinical leaders.

    Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    Clinical and Surgical Practice

    • Perform a wide range of GI surgeries, including minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and open procedures.
    • Conduct advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and upper GI endoscopy.

    Qualifications

    Job Purpose

    • The Head of Pharmacy will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hospital’s pharmacy services.     Job Purpose

    • The Cath Lab Radiographer will operate specialized imaging equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory to support diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves producing high-quality radiographic images, assisting cardiologists during catheterization procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining equipment according to established protocols at the African Medical Centre of Excellence.

    Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    Procedural Imaging Support

    • Operate fluoroscopic, angiographic, and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) equipment during cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), pacemaker/ICD implantations, and other interventional cardiology procedures.
    • Acquire and process diagnostic-quality images including coronary angiography, left ventriculography, aortography, and peripheral vascular studies.
    • Collaborate with cardiologists to optimize imaging parameters for different procedural requirements and patient anatomies.
    • Assist during complex interventional procedures including structural heart interventions (TAVR, mitral valve repairs) and electrophysiology studies.

    Patient Care & Safety

    • Prepare patients for procedures, including positioning, sterile draping, and physiological monitoring setup.
    • Monitor patients during procedures for contrast reactions, arrhythmias, and other potential complications.
