Consultant - Fundraising & Product Specialist at Africa Finance Corporation (AFC)

Job Summary

• AFC Capital Partners is seeking an experienced Consultant – Fundraising & Product Specialist to support capital raising, investor relations, and product positioning across its investment strategies. The Consultant will work closely with senior leadership, investment teams, and external advisors to support fundraising initiatives, develop high-quality investor materials, and act as a key product and market resource for existing and prospective investors.
• This role is well-suited to a commercially minded investment professional with strong real assets or alternative investment experience who can bridge the gap between investment teams and investors, and who is comfortable operating across the full fund lifecycle.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Fundraising & Investor Engagement

• Support fundraising activities across AFC Capital Partners’ investment products, engaging with investors throughout the full fund lifecycle.
• Act as a product and market specialist in meetings with existing and prospective investors, clearly articulating investment strategies, track record, performance, and market outlook.
• Respond to investor due diligence requests, RFIs, and ad-hoc queries with clear, accurate, and timely information.
• Attend investor meetings, roadshows, and conferences as required, including in-person engagement where appropriate.

Product Specialist & Content Development

• Develop, maintain, and continuously refine high-quality investor materials, including pitch decks, information memoranda, fund presentations, factsheets, quarterly reports, and market commentary.
• Ensure all investor communications are consistent, accurate, timely, and aligned with AFC Capital Partners’ investment philosophy and brand.
• Translate complex investment strategies, structures, and performance drivers into clear, compelling messaging for institutional, family office, and private wealth audiences.
• Provide regular product, investment, and market updates to internal stakeholders and external investors.

Product Development & Fund Structuring Support

• Support the establishment of new funds and investment products, including working alongside legal, tax, finance, and external advisors.
• Contribute to the development of product strategy, fund positioning, and go-to-market messaging.
• Assist with the preparation of materials required for regulatory, structuring, and investor approval processes.

Market & Competitive Intelligence

• Monitor and research market trends across relevant alternative asset classes, including real assets, infrastructure and private markets.
• Conduct competitive analysis across comparable funds, strategies, and structures to support product positioning and fundraising strategy.
• Provide insights on investor sentiment, capital flows, and evolving client requirements.

Internal Collaboration

• Work closely with AFC Capital Partners’ investment teams to maintain a deep understanding of portfolios, transactions, and pipeline activity.
• Collaborate with business development, marketing, and investor relations functions to support broader firm initiatives.
• Act as a trusted internal resource on product, investor messaging, and market dynamics.

Competency and Skill Requirements

• Strong understanding of alternative investments, particularly infrastructure, energy transition, private equity, or related strategies.
• Proven experience supporting or leading capital raising and investor-facing activities.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality, investor-ready materials.
• Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging with sophisticated investors.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
• Commercially minded, proactive, and comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Performance Indicators

• Support fund raising & investor relations for ACP’s existing funds under management (i.e., the Infrastructure Climate Resilient Fund).
• Lead marketing, branding, thought leadership and positioning for ACP funds.
• Play a key role in the design and launch new fund product.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across investment, legal, and finance functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in asset management, investment banking, consulting, private markets, or wealth management, with exposure to fundraising and/or product-related roles.
• Masters, MBA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification is required.
