    SignPost Senior Editoral Officer

    Position Summary

    • The Senior Editorial Officer will be responsible for development, management, and dissemination of quality, verified, relevant information on Signpost. The position is integral within the Signpost team and will work closely with moderators in publishing content through digital and other diverse channels based on need and responding to clients’ information needs.
    • The Senior editorial officer would work with the SignPosts manager to usher content from the first draft through editing and translation and ultimately to its final, published form.
    • Additionally, S/he will write or co-write reports on SignPost content.
    • The Senior Editorial Officer may also pitch and create content for SignPost.
    • The Senior Editorial Officer will be line-managed by the SignPost manager and work closely with the entire SignPost editorial team as well as the Senior Advocacy manager.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Edit written and multimedia content created by SignPost staff, including the Community Engagement, Protection and Service mapping officer, and Moderators.
    • Use MS Word, MS Office Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe IN-design, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Contentful CMS, Transifex translation-management software, and other tools to prepare content for publication.
    • Publish relevant and appropriate content on Signpost
    • Ensure Signpost content is accurate, complete, easy to understand, and engaging.
    • Collaborate on, and edit written and multimedia content built by the Signpost team (Signpost Manager, Moderators, Service mapping officer)
    • Monitor traffic and other feedback emanating from Signpost
    • Use the Contentful CMS, Transifex translation-management software, and other tools to prepare content for publication.
    • Coordinate, update, and handle the Signpost style guide.
    • Ensure the Signpost photo database and calendar are up to date.
    • Support moderators with publishing posts of relevant information for clients.
    • Contribute to drafting reports on Signpost content.
    • Work with the Information Technology team to resolve technical issues across platforms.
    • Support the editorial team in maintaining a good working knowledge of available services from IRC and partners, and an ability to make appropriate referrals to those services during SignPost activities.
    • Develop and maintain a good knowledge of the protection situation locally and the priority needs of the IDP population and host community.
    • Support other protection programs as needed, including Child Protection and Women’s Protection and Empowerment.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in communication, Journalism, Media, Public information, or another relevant field
    • Approximately four to five years of meaningful experience in editing, sub-editing, copy editing

    SignPost Moderator - Yobe

    Position Summary

    • Moderators are the heartbeat of the SignPost project. They communicate directly with our users every day -- replying to their comments, messages and questions. Moderators come from the same culture as the section of our audience they are working with and speak their dialect. Moderators need to mediate between the Signpost team and our audience. To do this, they need to translate questions from our audience (in their native tongue) to English, without losing any meaning or tone.
    • The Moderators will be responsible for community engagement and entry, identification of protection concerns, and provision of relevant information and feedback to clients in their dialects.
    • The Moderators will be line-managed by the Community Engagement, Protection and Service mapping Officer.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Reply to messages and comments received on Signpost information channels with the help of a team of experts and moderation guidelines.
    • Engage users in the conversation offline and online.
    • Follow protocol to escalate any communication from vulnerable cases to Protection Specialists.
    • Feedback on (and translate into English if required) representative and noteworthy comments and write an analysis of the day’s communications (including responses to posts, trends in conversation and information gaps).
    • Share opinions, feedback, cultural awareness, contextual knowledge, and learning with the wider team on an ongoing basis.

    SignPost Manager

    Position Summary

    SignPost Community Engagement & Protection/ Service Mapping Officer

    Position Summary

    • The Community Engagement, Protection and Service mapping Officer will be responsible for community engagement and entry, identification of protection concerns, identification of service providers and drawing up of a service/ stakeholders map. S/he would also be responsible for referrals of case for service provision based on need and responding to clients’ information needs.
    • Additionally, S/he will write or co-write reports on SignPost content.
    • The Community Engagement, Protection and Service mapping Officer will be line-managed by the SignPost Senior Editorial Officer and work closely with the entire SignPost editorial team as well as the Senior Advocacy manager.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Identify service providers through field visits, information from field teams, coordination meetings, working groups, desk research, social media, referral pathways, user surveys/FGDs, etc.
    • Develop tools such as new service entry forms, service entry update templates, and new service provider agreements.
    • Communicate with service providers on a continuous basis to ensure the accuracy and consistency of information on the service map.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with Signpost Manager on-site strategy, features, and issues.
    • Act as a first line of defense for bugs and issues with the site and actively solicit feedback from users or office staff.
    • Coordinate with other actors mapping services to avoid duplication of efforts.
    • Send the draft (preview) entry to the service provider for confirmation and ask for clarification where necessary.
    • Conduct regular field visits when feasible to verify services offered and capture any access barriers.  
    • Reviewing the content and design of the service map on an ongoing basis.
    • Work closely with Signpost Digital Community Liaisons who are in direct touch with users to verify service information.
    • Conduct training for service providers on how to use the service map and solicit feedback from providers.

    Finance Clerk

    Job Overview/Summary:

    • The Finance Clerk will be a key member of the Abuja finance team and will contribute towards the achievement of the field’s finance objectives.
    • Under the direction of the Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant maintains the cash books and is responsible for the accounts payable functions of the department.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Maintain both hard and soft folders for VAT report, PAYE report, NSITF report and WHT Report.
    • Ensure that all cash and bank payments documents are properly filed and stalled in the archive timely and accurately.
    • Ensuring that cash and bank payment documents, TAFs, bid analysis are distributed to authorizer timely and in line with operating authorization matrix.
    • Ensure accurate and timely retrieval of documents for audits as the audits come up.
    • Ensure that all documents used for audit are accurately returned to appropriate boxes and stalled a soon as the audit is over.
    • Support the finance assistant in Maintaining the receipt book and ensuring that authorized receipts are issued upon receipt of monies.
    • Collect acknowledged VAT report submitted to FIRS monthly.
    • Collection of NSITF receipt from the bank monthly
    • Create journals in Integra
    • Archiving of prior years’ finance documents.
    • Diligent follow-up to ensure fully signed mandates are processed to vendor.
    • Assist with capturing payments on Integra.
    • Process All monthly statutory for payments.
    • Experience in grants audit and government audit.
    • Experience with tax reconciliations for annual returns.
    • Vendor account reconciliation.

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements:

    • HND/BSc in Accounting or Business Administration.
    • Minimum of 2 years working in the finance function.
    • Experience working with NGOs (preferred but not a prerequisite);
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
    • Knack for detail. Able to communicate effectively.
