    Surveyor (Geomatics/Surveying)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Execute high-precision engineering surveys to support railway alignment setting-out, structural foundations, earthworks, and drainage works.
    • Establish, verify, and maintain horizontal and vertical control points using GNSS (static, RTK) and total station methods, ensuring positional accuracy in accordance with project tolerances and railway construction standards.
    • Perform detailed topographic surveys, as-built surveys, and deformation/settlement monitoring for structures and track formation.
    • Process and validate survey data using appropriate software; generate digital terrain models (DTMs), alignment profiles, and CAD drawings for design and construction purposes.
    • Provide survey inputs for construction staking, quality control checks, and geometric verification prior to final acceptance.
    • Maintain accurate survey records, logs, and coordinate files in compliance with project documentation protocols.

    Qualifications

    • Academic Qualification: B.Sc. / B.Eng./HND in Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial Engineering, or related discipline.
    • Professional Registration: Mandatory membership with the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) and/or registration with the Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON).
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ proven engineering survey experience on linear infrastructure projects (railway, highways, pipelines), with emphasis on high-accuracy control establishment and construction monitoring.

    Technical Competence:

    • Proficiency in operating high-precision GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, digital levels, and laser scanners.
    • Advanced skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and GIS applications (ArcGIS/QGIS).
    • Experience in processing survey data with Leica Infinity, Trimble Business Center, or equivalent software.

    Other Requirements:

    • High attention to measurement accuracy and spatial data integrity.
    • Strong understanding of engineering tolerances, datum transformations, and coordinate reference systems.
    • Ability to work effectively in challenging terrain and construction environments.

    Hydraulic / Hydrology Engineer (Water Resources Engineering)

    Location: Abuja (FCT) 

    Key Responsibilities
    Design, Analysis & Modelling:

    • Develop and review hydrological and hydraulic models using HEC-RAS, and other advanced modelling tools to simulate water flow, flood levels, and drainage capacity.
    • Prepare designs for open channels, box culverts, pipe culverts, siphons, stormwater detention systems, scour protection, and erosion control structures.
    • Conduct rainfall-runoff analysis, floodplain mapping, and peak discharge estimation using statistical hydrology methods (Gumbel, Log-Pearson Type III, etc.).
    • Integrate hydraulic design with railway alignment, structural works, and geotechnical requirements to ensure safe and efficient water management.
    • Produce detailed plan and profile drawings, hydraulic calculation sheets, specifications, and Bills of Quantities for tender and construction purposes.
    • Review contractors’ design submissions for technical compliance and constructability.
    • Maintain digital project archives of hydrological data, GIS-based drainage maps, and as-built hydraulic drawings.

    General Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with relevant design standards such as BS EN 752, BS EN 16933, AASHTO Drainage Manual, UIC standards, and applicable national codes.
    • Apply sustainable drainage principles (SuDS) where feasible to minimise environmental impacts.
    • Provide technical advice during project risk assessments for flood hazards and water-related failures.

    Alignment Engineer (Railway Alignment Engineering)

    Location: Abuja (FCT)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervise and manage the execution of horizontal and vertical railway alignment on site in accordance with approved IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings.
    • Conduct field verification of geometric setting-out, ensuring compliance with tolerances for track centreline, cant, gradient, and curvature.
    • Liaise closely with survey teams for control point establishment, transfer, and verification using GPS RTK and total station methods.
    • Resolve alignment-related discrepancies between design drawings and site conditions through engineering judgement and documented design change processes.
    • Perform as-built alignment verification surveys, producing comparative reports against design benchmarks.
    • Coordinate with the Permanent Way Engineer to ensure seamless integration of trackwork with structural interfaces, transitions, and turnout locations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degreein in Civil Engineering.
    • Minimum of 7+ years experience in alignment, civil, and infrastructure design, with a strong focus on highway and railway projects. Experience in mid to large-scale highway or railway developments is an added advantage.
    • Possession of relevant engineering license/membership of relevant professional body.
    • Demonstrated experience working for an engineering consultancy within the rail sector.
    • Proficiency in the use of relevant engineering software, tools and equipment to deliver high-quality, error-free work.
    • Knowledge of Bentley Rail Track, Bentley Open Rail, Clear Route and Bentley MicroStation software packages.
    • Demonstrate a solid understanding of railway standards and track design experience covering a wide range of interfaces e.g. formation design, interface with structures, stressing designs, drainage designs etc.
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to work within tight or varying schedules and deliver within timelines.
    • Ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules.
    • Willingness to travel or relocate in response to project needs.

    Permanent Way Engineer (Railway Civil Engineering)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan, manage, and coordinate the design and construction of railway track infrastructure, including rails, sleepers, ballast, sub-ballast, and formation layers.
    • Supervise track formation preparation, ballast distribution, rail stringing, sleeper laying, fastening systems installation, and track welding/alignment.
    • Monitor track geometry compliance (gauge, cant, alignment, level, and smoothness) using track recording and monitoring equipment to ensure conformity with design tolerances and operational safety standards.
    • Verify rail materials, fastenings, sleepers, ballast, and geotextiles against approved specifications and quality standards before incorporation into the works.
    • Coordinate with civil works teams to ensure proper drainage systems, embankment stability, and subgrade compaction for long-term track performance.
    • Manage track stressing, welding procedures (aluminothermic and flash-butt), and rail neutral temperature compliance.
    • Oversee installation of turnouts, crossovers, expansion joints, and other special trackwork, ensuring correct setting out and operational compatibility.
    • Implement and monitor safety protocols, method statements, and work sequences to minimise risks during track construction activities.
    • Liaise with alignment, bridge, and signaling teams to ensure integration of permanent way works within the overall railway corridor.
    • Provide technical input for as-built documentation, maintenance manuals, and handover reports.

    Qualification

    • B.Eng / B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or Railway Engineering (M.Sc. in Railway Engineering/Infrastructure preferred).
    • COREN registration (An advantage).
    • Membership of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and/or international permanent way or railway engineering professional bodies preferred.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 7 years’ post-qualification experience in permanent way engineering for mainline or high-capacity railway projects.
    • Proven track record in track design, construction, quality control, and commissioning.
    • Experience with AREMA, UIC, and/or BS EN railway standards for track design and construction.
    • Involvement in both office-based design reviews and site-based supervision.

    Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in track design and monitoring software (e.g., Bentley Rail Track, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar).
    • Knowledge of track welding techniques, ballast grading, drainage systems, and track formation engineering.
    • Strong understanding of railway construction plant and equipment (e.g., tamping machines, ballast regulators, rail threaders).
    • Ability to interpret track alignment and setting-out drawings with high accuracy.

    Soft Skills:

    • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities for multi-disciplinary railway projects.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in dynamic site conditions.

    Document Control Officer

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for project documentation and control in accordance with the document control requirements.
    • Ensure all documentation complies with company and industry standards, including ISO, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
    • Supporting and maintaining data management and data processing.
    • Manage document filing and retrieval system for reports, correspondence, logs, maps, and figures.

    Structural Engineer (Major Structures)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform structural analysis and design for major railway structures using STAAD Pro, PROTA Structures, Tekla Structures, and/or Midas Civil.
    • Develop bridge designs (including steel girder, pre-stressed concrete, and composite structures) and structural steel designs for stations, gantries, and ancillary facilities.

    Civil Construction Engineer (QA/QC Focus)

    Location: Abuja (FCT)

    Job Description

    • Develop, implement, and oversee Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures for all civil engineering construction activities in compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and relevant codes/standards.
    • Review, verify, and approve material submittals, mill test certificates, concrete mix designs, and other compliance documentation prior to use on site.
    • Monitor and inspect construction works, including earthworks, foundations, structural concrete, drainage systems, and ancillary works, ensuring adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards.
    • Supervise and validate in-situ and laboratory testing (e.g., soil compaction, concrete strength, asphalt quality), ensuring results meet project acceptance criteria.
    • Prepare and maintain inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality checklists, and QA/QC registers for systematic tracking of compliance.
    • Identify non-conformances, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and coordinate timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
    • Liaise with site engineers, contractors, and third-party laboratories to resolve quality-related issues and provide technical guidance.
    • Prepare detailed QA/QC reports, weekly summaries, and statistical quality performance analysis for submission to project management.

    Qualification

    Technical Competence:

    • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, QA/QC documentation procedures, and auditing techniques.
    • Proficiency in QA/QC tracking software, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and AutoCAD.
    • Familiarity with construction materials standards (BS, ASTM, AASHTO) and testing methods.
