    Farm Supervisor

    Job Description

    • We are in need of a Farm Supervisor who will be responsible for the overall management and operation of a diverse agricultural farm, including cashew, oil palm, cassava, maize, and other crops.
    • This role involves overseeing all aspects of farm operations, from cultivation and harvesting to processing and storage.
    • The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced individual with a passion for agriculture and a commitment to innovation and growth.

    Responsibilities
    Farm Management:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive farm management plans, including crop rotation, fertilization, pest control, and irrigation strategies.
    • Monitor crop health and growth, identify and address any issues promptly.
    • Oversee the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of various crops, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
    • Manage farm equipment and machinery, including maintenance, repair, and procurement.
    • Supervise farm labor and coordinate their activities to achieve optimal productivity.

    Processing and Storage:

    • Manage the processing of agricultural products, such as cashew nuts, palm oil, cassava flour, and maize.
    • Ensure the quality and safety of processed products.
    • Oversee the storage of harvested crops and processed products, maintaining proper conditions to prevent spoilage.

    Innovation and Growth:

    • Research and implement new agricultural technologies and practices to improve efficiency and productivity.
    • Explore opportunities for value-added products and markets.
    • Develop and implement strategies for farm expansion and growth.

    Financial Management:

    • Prepare and manage farm budgets, tracking expenses and revenue.
    • Monitor farm profitability and identify areas for cost reduction.

    Staff Management:

    • Recruit, train, and supervise farm staff.
    • Create a positive and productive work environment.
    • Address employee concerns and resolve disputes.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Food processing, Plant science or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in farm management, preferably with experience in cashew, oil palm, cassava, and maize cultivation.

    Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, including crop rotation, fertilization, pest control, and irrigation.
    • Experience in post-harvest handling.
    • Experience in farm equipment operation and maintenance.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
    • Tech-savvy and open to adopting innovative agricultural technologies.

    Willingness:

    • To live on a remote farm.
    • To be relocated to any of our farm locations.

    Farm Procurement Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the entire procurement process for the farm, including feed mill supplies (grains, supplements, additives), equipment (agricultural machinery, tools, repairs), and farm supplies (seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, animal housing, crates, etc.).
    • Source and qualify new vendors for animals (livestock, poultry), pharmaceuticals (veterinary drugs), and other farm-specific needs.
    • Negotiate contracts with vendors to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
    • Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors, fostering open communication and ensuring consistent service.
    • Oversee the purchasing of seedlings, plant materials, and other nursery/greenhouse supplies (if applicable).
    • Conduct thorough market research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and potential cost savings.
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize sourcing and supplier selection processes.
    • Coordinate with internal departments (production, finance, operations) to understand and fulfill their requirements efficiently.
    • Manage inventory levels for all purchased materials, ensuring timely restocking and preventing overstocking.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor information.
    • Prepare and submit procurement reports to management as needed.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or a related field.
    • Proven track record of successfully negotiating contracts and securing cost-effective purchases.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a farm management software system (a plus).
    • Understanding of agricultural practices and terminology (a plus).
    • Valid driver's license.

    • Proven track record of success in developing and implementing marketing strategies that drive sales growth.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Passion for agriculture and a commitment to sustainable practices.
    • Proficiency in social media marketing and content creation (a plus).
    • Experience with e-commerce platforms (a plus).
