Manage the entire procurement process for the farm, including feed mill supplies (grains, supplements, additives), equipment (agricultural machinery, tools, repairs), and farm supplies (seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, animal housing, crates, etc.).
Source and qualify new vendors for animals (livestock, poultry), pharmaceuticals (veterinary drugs), and other farm-specific needs.
Negotiate contracts with vendors to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors, fostering open communication and ensuring consistent service.
Oversee the purchasing of seedlings, plant materials, and other nursery/greenhouse supplies (if applicable).
Conduct thorough market research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and potential cost savings.
Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize sourcing and supplier selection processes.
Coordinate with internal departments (production, finance, operations) to understand and fulfill their requirements efficiently.
Manage inventory levels for all purchased materials, ensuring timely restocking and preventing overstocking.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor information.
Prepare and submit procurement reports to management as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or a related field.
Proven track record of successfully negotiating contracts and securing cost-effective purchases.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a farm management software system (a plus).
Understanding of agricultural practices and terminology (a plus).
Valid driver's license.
