About The Role

• The Country Business Manager - PayGo Phone will be accountable for the end-to-end strategy, execution, and profitability of Sun King’s B2C PayGo Phone business across Nigeria. This role will guide the paygo phone channel team and in extension have access to a nationwide network of 10,000+ sales agents, driving direct-to-consumer sales, agent productivity, and revenue growth. The Manager will be accountable for the growth of sales and revenue for the PayGo Phone channel while ensuring alignment with Sun King’s overall business goal.

What you would be expected to do

Strategy & Leadership

• Design and execute the national B2C PayGo Phone strategy, setting clear targets for revenue, profitability, and market penetration.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the PayGo Phone team to deliver on strategic performance KPIs.
• Ensure agent recruitment, engagement, and retention to build and maintain a high-performing network of over 10,000 productive sales agents nationwide.

Agent Network Growth & Management

• Through the team, drive recruitment and onboarding of PayGo Phone sales agents, ensuring a widespread and capable field team.
• Develop and implement programs to increase the percentage of Sun King agents actively selling PayGo phones.
• Build strong relationships with top-performing agents and agent groups to foster loyalty and drive productivity.

Sales Performance & Revenue Growth

• Own end-to-end sales performance, from agent recruitment to customer acquisition and repayment collection.
• Implement systems to monitor agent productivity, sales velocity, and channel contribution to overall country revenue.
• Collaborate with Finance and Credit teams to optimize pricing, credit terms, and collections strategies.

Channel Profitability & Operational Excellence

• Ensure the profitability of the PayGo Phone channel through effective cost management, pricing strategy, and inventory control.
• Use data-driven insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities—translating them into actionable plans.
• Oversee inventory forecasting, supply chain coordination, and logistics to ensure product availability across all agent touchpoints.
• Ensure compliance with brand standards, sales processes, and financial controls across the agent network.

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management on channel health, revenue, agent activity, and strategic milestones.
• Work closely with Marketing, Product, and Technology teams to enhance tools, training, and support for agents.
• Represent the PayGo Phone business in cross-functional and regional forums.

You might be a strong candidate if you have

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in sales, distribution, or channel management, with at least 4 years in a senior management role overseeing large field teams or agent networks.
• Proven experience in Pay-As-You-Go, microfinance, telecom, FMCG, or similar high-volume, low-margin sales environments.
• Good background in B2C sales through decentralized agent networks.
• Demonstrated success in designing and executing national sales strategies with clear revenue and profitability outcomes.
• Deep understanding of credit management, collections, and rural/urban sales dynamics in Nigeria.
• Excellent analytical skills and proficiency with Excel, CRM tools, and sales performance dashboards.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel extensively (up to 70%) within Nigeria.

About The Role

• The Solar Inverter Specialist, will coordinate inverter sales, collections and distribution operations in the area they are assigned for the direct distribution of Sun King Solar Inverter products sold on Pay-As-You-Basis (also called and recognized as “EasyBuy” Business unit) through a network of agents called as “Inverter Energy Officer”. The Solar Inverter Specialist is ultimately accountable for generating inverter sales, ensuring collections are timely and accurate and keeping the entire Direct Distribution growing rapidly in a sustainable manager

What you would be expected to do

• Hire & retain Inverter Energy Officers (IEOs): Hire, train and maintain a team of at least 50 Sun King Inverter Energy Officers in the area (Lagos State). Use multiple avenues for finding the right talent to sell Sun King Inverter products with the help of village influencers such as the village heads, teachers, religious heads, doctors, farmers and others, as applicable. Create a reputation and goodwill for the mission of Sun King to provide clean, affordable and reliable source of energy in their areas.
• Training of Inverter Energy Officers: Provide training to the Inverter Energy Officers on several aspects of the business such as sales, collections, product, technical, inventory and logistics related. Ensure that they are fully supervised in the best professional manner demonstrating highest levels of integrity, ethics and professionalism while dealing with customers.
• Provide role clarity to Inverter Energy Officers: Provide complete clarity to Inverter Energy Officers related to their day-to-day tasks, sales & collections plans, routes and targets. This includes, ensuring Inverter Energy Officers have sales route/area to sell in, they know on how to demonstrate and sell Sun King inverters, PayGo phones and other products, they have the confidence to be able to present and resolve basic customer queries on the spot and they always have access to *Solar Inverter Specialist in case of questions and concerns.
• Daily field visits: Have a weekly touchpoint with every Inverter Energy Officer in your area – either through in-person meetings, making a sale to the customer in your area or having a call. Resolve all possible issues faced by the Inverter Energy Officers and report them to the Solar Inverter Business Manager, every week. Ensure that first 5 sales of each Inverter Energy Officer is done along with the Area Business Manager in the area, by each Inverter Energy Officer to ensure that the core sales and collection process is fully understood by each Energy Officer.
• Work with Inverter Energy Officers: Conduct joint field work with a group of Inverter Energy Officers to provide inverter sales and collection training on a weekly basis and drive IEO engagement. This includes doing night activations, market activations, visiting local communities and gatherings such as SACCOs, Self Help groups, retail centers and markets to make group sales.
• Exceed your sales & collections targets: Meet or exceed sales and collection targets established on 2nd of every month by the Solar Inverter Business Manager. Provide daily, weekly updates on sales, IEO recruitments, Customer issues and resolutions, in alignment with the Solar Inverter Business Manager.
• Drive robust field sales processes: Review collection progress with your Inverter Energy Officers daily and provide adequate training to them on driving better collections in your areas. This includes, customer and area profiling, ensuring regular and timely collection follow-ups, resolving customer issues to ensure they make payments and ultimately repossessing the systems as a last recourse in case the customer defaults.
• Remain externally focused: Keep an eye on companies selling similar products within your area and ensure you take adequate measures to protect and grow our business from pressures. Pre-inform your management team and take measures to ensure Sun King remains a paramount brand name in Solar Inverter products for your area.
• Resolve customer issues: Provide world-class customer service to your customers as it relates to product delivery, training on how to use and make payments, installation, after sales warranty issues. Ensure that you work with your Inverter Energy Officers to establish clear expectations and processes to resolve all customer issues within 24 hours.
• Control Marketing & Other spend: Provide adequate marketing materials & equipment (such as smartphones) necessary to all your Inverter Energy Officers. Ensure we get maximum return on investment for all the costs we incur in areas of marketing and supply chain.
• Review meetings with Inverter Energy Officers: Conduct weekly table meetings with Energy Officers and ensure that you have SIBM present in those meetings to resolve any outstanding customers or IEO issues. Coordinate, plan and organize the meeting to have maximum attendance and progress. Recognize outstanding performers from time to time and ensure the motivation of Inverter Energy Officers is maintained at an all-time high.

• Have a degree in a Business-related field OR equivalent and at least 3 years hands on experience in inverter Sales.
• Have excellent Computer knowledge with comprehensive knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
• Have extensive Customer Care experience

• Are able to skillfully build relations both internal & external relationships.
