About Women, Children’s Health and Community Development (WOCHAD) Initiative
Women, Children’s Health and Community Development (WOCHAD) Initiative was formed in 2001 by 4 women activist who were actively involved in provision of Reproductive Health Services in Ebonyi State.
These women met on 23rd April 2001 to discuss the burial of a friend whose unfaithful husban... read mored infected with HIV which later progressed to AIDS that claimed her life. The unanswered questions on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and its other related diseases and Women, Gender Discrimination/Disparity, High Maternal and Children Morbidity and Mortality and Adolescent Health and Youth participation visa-vi Sexuality Education and Youth Empowerment especially the girl child led to the formation of the Organization with the Name Women Health Foundation (the name it was registered with in Ebonyi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development Abakaliki (EBSMOWASD). This was later changed to Women, Children’s Health and Community Development (WOCHAD) Initiative during registration with Co-operate Affairs Commission.
