    Transformer Maintenance Officer  

    Purpose of the Job 

    • Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of electrical transformers within the power distribution network.Duties and Responsibilities

    Key Duties and Responsibilities 

    • The Transformer Maintenance Officer shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:
    • Conduct regular inspections of transformers to assess their condition and identify potential issues 
    • Perform diagnostic tests, including insulation resistance testing, oil analysis, and thermal imaging, to evaluate  transformer health 
    • Execute preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, tightening connections, and replacing worn  components, to prolong transformer lifespan 
    • Inspect and maintain transformer substation sites to identify and resolve technical problems, ensuring equipment  is tidy and in good working condition 
    • Address and rectify faults or malfunctions in transformers promptly to minimize downtime 
    • Installation of new transformers, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards 
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements during maintenance activities to ensure personal and  public safety 
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to transformer maintenance 
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, test results, and transformer performance data 
    • Prepare detailed reports on maintenance work, including any issues encountered and corrective actions taken  for the attention of the Maintenance Supervisor 
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor

    Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

    • First degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or a related field 
    • A postgraduate degree or any relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage 
    • Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in electrical maintenance, with a focus on transformers and high-voltage  equipment 

    Attributes and Competencies 

    • In-depth knowledge of standard operating procedures, transformer operation, maintenance procedures, and  diagnostic testing methods 
    • Strong knowledge of transformer installation and must have experienced the overhaul of transformers 
    • Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals 
    • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations governing electrical maintenance work
