Job Summary:
To lead and manage the sales operations for heavy equipment and machinery, driving revenue growth through strategic business development, client relationship management, and coordination with technical, after-sales, and service teams. The Sales Manager will identify and pursue new market opportunities across mining, construction, and industrial sectors, ensuring the achievement of sales targets and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales Execution
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve company sales targets for heavy equipment and machinery (e.g., bulldozers, tractors, loaders, excavators, crushers, etc.).
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with clients in the mining, construction, quarrying, and industrial sectors.
- Lead proposal development, contract negotiations, and presentations to prospective clients.
- Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation to deal closure and after-sales follow-up.
Market & Customer Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, EPC firms, project developers, and government agencies.
- Conduct regular market research to identify new trends, opportunities, and competitive activities.
- Maintain a customer database (CRM) and ensure regular client engagement. Develop marketing strategies, including trade fairs, demos, and product launches.
Team & Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with management, sales and after-sales teams to align sales objectives with equipment availability, specifications, and delivery timelines.
- Support the service and parts departments in ensuring customer satisfaction post-sale. Supervise and mentor sales representatives and technicians.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Prepare periodic sales forecasts, reports, and market intelligence updates for management.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales volume, margins, and market share.
- Recommend pricing strategies and promotional campaigns to improve market penetration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sales, or related discipline. An MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years’ experience of proven sale and maintenance of heavy equipment, machinery, or industrial products sector.
- Demonstrated success in B2B sales and project-based selling.
- Existing network with EPC companies, contractors, and industrial clients preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction, mining or agricultural heavy machinery and working knowledge of equipment types (e.g., bulldozers, tractors, loaders, excavators, crushers, etc.)
- Comfortable working in a target-driven role.
- High commercial acumen and ability to close complex deals.
- Strong research and networking abilities.
- Required to maintain the profitability of their departments while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver results. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in CRM tools and MS Office suite (especially Excel and Word). Leadership and team management ability.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within states in the Nigerian region assigned.
