    Registrar

    The Position

    • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative work of the University except as regards matters for which the Bursar is responsible in accordance with Section 6(2) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree No. 11 of 1993.
    • The Registrar is by virtue of that office, also Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates must possess good honours Degree not below second class (lower division) in Arts and Humanities obtained from a recognized University as well as membership of any recognized relevant professional body.
    • The candidates must have had not less than fifteen (15) years of post-qualification experience preferably in a University or comparable institution.
    • The Candidates must not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar or cognate senior management position.
    • They must also be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant and command respect and be able to carry colleagues along.
    • The possession of higher degree(s) would be an added advantage.
    • The Candidates must not be more than sixty (60) years at the time of assumption of duty.

    Salary and Conditions of Service

    • Remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of a Registrar in Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria / Governing Council as appropriate.
    • In accordance with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree No. 11 of 1993 (as amended), section 6(4) and 6(5), the successful candidates shall hold office for five years in the first instance.
    • The appointment may however be renewed for one year and no more.
    • Fringe benefits include pension in consonance with the Contributory Pension Scheme and appropriate allowances as may be approved from time to time by the Government/University Council.

    Method of Application

    Interested and qualified candidates should send their Application Letters (30 copies) accompanied by 30 copies of the candidate's detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV). The CV must contain, among others, the following:

    • The candidate's name in full
    • Age
    • Marital status
    • Nationality
    • Educational attainments with dates
    • Number of Ph.D candidates supervised and graduated
    • Research output
    • Academic and non-academic recognition
    • Professional achievements
    • Scholarly publications in renowned domestic and international journals with dates, and books.
    • Certificate of birth or statutory declaration of age
    • Certificate of medical fitness based on documented comprehensive medical examination from a government hospital.
    • A statement of the candidate's Vision for the Usmanu Danfodiyo University in the 21st century of not more than 1500 words (30) copies).
    • Names of three (3) referees who should be in a position to attest to the candidate's claim to high academic standard, managerial capacity and moral uprightness.

    Note

    • In the case of a nominated or 'searched candidate", the CV must be accompanied by a letter of consent from the candidate.
    • The three (3) referees should be requested by the candidate to forward referee's reports directly to the Registrar under confidential cover.
    • All shortlisted candidates will be required to make themselves available for interaction with the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board.
