    PSEA and Gender Officer

    Reports To: Gender and Disability Inclusion Specialist

    Project: : WFP-Community-Based Nutrition Support Programme (Tom Brown Approach)

    Contract Duration:3 months with the possibility of renewing

    PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE:

    The Gender and PSEA Officer will lead all Gender and PSEA training activities of both the staff and community workers of GHIV Africa and also support program team in reporting and analysis of GHIV Africa projects.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct gender analysis to understand how women, men, girls, and boys are affected differently by crises.
    • Ensure projects are gender-sensitive or gender-transformative.
    • Support teams to design programs that address gender inequalities.
    • Promote women’s participation and leadership in community activities.
    • Ensure services are accessible to women, girls boys and men of different ages, and abilities.
    • Implement the organization’s PSEA policy and code of conduct.
    • Ensure staff and partners understand zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse.
    • Set up safe reporting mechanisms for communities to report abuse.
    • Ensure reports are handled confidentially and safely..
    • Conduct staff orientation on gender and PSEA.
    • Train partners, volunteers, and community leaders.
    • Provide guidance on gender-sensitive programming.
    • Ensure all staff sign and understand the code of conducts
    • Organizing community awareness sessions on gender equality and protection.
    • Informing communities about how to report abuse or misconduct.
    • Promoting safe and respectful humanitarian assistance.
    • Develop gender and PSEA indicators for projects.
    • Monitor gender inclusion in program activities.
    • Prepare reports for donors and management.
    • Conduct risk assessments related to SEA.
    • Support confidential complaint handling mechanisms.
    • Refer survivors to health, legal, or psychosocial services.
    • Ensure do no harm and survivor-centered approaches.
    • Participate in Gender Working Groups or PSEA Networks.
    • Coordinate with UN agencies, NGOs, and government actors.
    • Align activities with international standards (e.g., Inter-Agency Standing Committee guidelines).
    • Carry Out any other assigned duties by supervisor

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Gender studies, social sciences, Human rights or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications may be advantageous.
    • Working experience:2-3 years in safeguarding, Gender mainstreaming, or PSEA reporting preferably with NGOs or developmental organizations.

    SKILLS :

    • Strong knowledge of PSEAH principles, gender equity and humanitarian safeguarding standards.
    • Excellent communication both verbal and written, facilitation and reporting skillds.

    Additional Requirements

    • Fluency in English,Hausa and fulani.

    PROFICIENCY:

    In Microsoft office(Word,Excel,Outlook)
