Mechanical Engineer at Gabson Professional School of Safety & Engineering

Requirement

• Proven working experience in mechanical engineering for at least 5-7 years with hands-on experience on heavy maintenance, machine works, fabrication and mechanical design with computer-aided engineering
• Familiarity with 2D & 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g. AutoCAD, ProE or other)
• Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
• Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc.)
• Creativity and analytical skills. Technical writing skills
• Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
• Computer skills in the use of MS Excel, MS Word, MS ppt, MS Project.
• HND in Mechanical plus knowledge of safety, health and environment with at least 7 years’ experience in Mechanical design, fabrication, machine works, installation and maintenance.

OR

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering plus knowledge of SHE with at least 5-7 years in oil and Gas or manufacturing industry.
• COREN certify is an added advantage
• Certificate in HSE supervisory skill is an added advantage
• Certification in Project Management is an added advantage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials as may be required.
• Design drawings and generate BOQ from design drawings and cost.
• Develop processes by designing for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
• Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finishedproduct and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
• Prepare project reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
• Keep equipment and machines operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following the manufacturer's instructions
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, and reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
• Manage all mechanical jobs; design and assemble structures installation and maintenance in small scale through to large-scale construction projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner at all times.
• Ensure operations are in accordance with codes, policies, and safety standards.
• Carry out technical and feasibility studies to satisfy technical specifications.
• Continuous cost-saving drive in project execution
• Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies.
• Oversee all subordinate staff and liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
• Regularly develop work procedure, method statement, and JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) prior to the commencement of any work.
• Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety, etc., and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
• Ability to assist other divisions to attain their objectives when required / feasible.
• Punctuality and ready to serve in any other section of the company as may be decided.
•  Ability to support the other Gabson Group of companies as may be required to meet the company-set objectives.
• Prepare and share daily, weekly, and monthly reports with statistical data and graphical representation of plans stating the status of achievement, challenges encountered, and new plans for the new week/month.
• Ability to accomplish any given task on schedule, proof knowledge of multi-skill and hands-on experience.
• Report all incidents/accidents in an appropriate manner as laid down by the SHE department and HR policy of Gabson Engineering Services Limited.
• Ensure all installation and maintenance are of quality, durable, and meet the required specification standard by the company/company’s client as well as regulations guiding fittings work.
• Active participation in all scheduled meetings with tangible contributions that add value or bring improvement to the company's general operation.
• Ensuring that departmental set objectives including cost savings are met with adequate proof.
• Always develop specification documents for all projects, installation, and maintenance as may be required.
• Ensure all documents relating to mechanical activities are properly filed with accurate labeling for traceability.
• Incumbent would be measured based on achieving the objectives agreed upon annually in an atmosphere of team spirit and innovation while keeping the organization's vital information.
