    MEAL Officer

    Job Summary:

    Provide technical and professional management of information and reporting processes to ensure high quality communication for Nutrition project by developing tools, designing and planning, executing, managing and implementing monitoring activities, evaluation and reporting.

     Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Conduct project assessment on quarterly basis to assess the progress of the project for adjustments, and possible improvement.
    • Organize review meetings with project team to validate the MEAL plan and the activity work plan on a monthly basis to know if the project is going as agreed in the original project document.
    • Develop project performance monitoring tools.
    • Conduct orientation session with community volunteers on how to use the      monitoring tools and on how to gather project required data for evaluation.
    • Supervise project performance assessment in the field.
    • Carry out project performance audit as stipulated in the MEAL plan.
    • Coordinate with the project officer to ensure quality project output and outcomes.
    • Carry out project performance audit analysis.
    • Report project evaluation reports to the MEAL Manager.
    • Train and build capacity of community volunteer/community Nutrition Assistants on how to use data collection tool and how to collect required project data.
    • Harmonize filed activities data to produce evidence –based, analytical and quality internal and (donor) reports as per the report frequency.
    • Handle the development and management of data base management system.

    Technical expertise ,skills, knowledge and competencies:

    • University education or equivalent in preferably statistics, engineering, social science or related fields.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in MEAL in Emergency.
    • Good knowledge of the Logical Log-frame Approach (LFA)
    • Have worked before as MEAL Officer, with knowledge of assessment planning, design, implementation, analysis especially on a vulnerable population in emergency response settings preferably northeast Nigeria
    • Good knowledge of child Safeguarding, PSEA policies, the concept of Do No Harm, concept of confidentiality, and good in working with children and vulnerable people in emergency setting
    • Fluency in speaking and writing of the local languages (English, Kanuri, Hausa and Fulfulde).
    • Can analyze northeast humanitarian context and come up with intervention priorities. Experience in collection of information using smart phone, and can be able to create forms on Kobo toolbox, train and guide, and supervise field workers on data collection.
    • Can plan and facilitate FGDs, and participatory mapping sessions.
    • Experience hiring and managing community volunteers
    • Excellent communication, and excellent time management skill
    • Good knowledge of data analysis
    • Must be a team player
