    Livelihood Assistant (Konduga LGA)

    Contract Duration: 7 Months
    Job Location: Konduga LGA, Borno State

    Job Summary

    The FSL Assistant will play a vital role in supporting DHCBI’s efforts to enhance food security and restore livelihoods for vulnerable households in flood-affected communities, particularly in Malakyariri. This position will support the implementation of key project components including Cash-for-Assets (CfA), Food-for-Assets (FFA), agricultural recovery, and livelihood restoration activities.

    The role emphasizes community engagement, input distribution, training facilitation, and support for initiatives such as infrastructure rehabilitation, rain/dry-season farming, livestock support, and financial inclusion, while ensuring compliance with DHCBI and donor guidelines.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Implementation

    • Support the implementation of CfA/FFA interventions, including targeting and mobilizing vulnerable households.
    • Assist in distributing agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, tools) and delivering training on climate-smart agricultural practices.
    • Support the distribution of livestock, animal feed, and basic veterinary services to eligible beneficiaries.
    • Facilitate the delivery of cash assistance programs in accordance with targeting criteria and beneficiary verification processes.

    Community Engagement

    • Engage local leaders, women, youth, and persons with disabilities to promote inclusive participation in FSL activities.
    • Conduct community sensitization meetings to explain project goals, safety measures, and expectations.
    • Support participatory planning and beneficiary feedback sessions to align interventions with community priorities.

    Training and Capacity Building

    • Organize and facilitate beneficiary training on crop diversification, basic irrigation, financial literacy, and income-generating activities.
    • Assist in building beneficiaries’ capacity on livestock care and basic business management.
    • Provide orientation, safety training, and guidelines for CfA/FFA participants.

    Monitoring and Reporting

    • Assist in collecting and documenting data on participation, input usage, training attendance, and project results.
    • Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress and gather beneficiary feedback.
    • Contribute to reports highlighting key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.

    Infrastructure Rehabilitation

    • Support the rehabilitation of community infrastructure, including feeder roads, water sources, sanitation facilities, and homestead gardens.
    • Facilitate coordination and active participation of community members in asset restoration activities.

    Compliance and Accountability

    • Ensure all activities comply with DHCBI and donor regulations, particularly concerning PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards.
    • Support the operation of a functional complaint and feedback mechanism that addresses community concerns promptly and confidentially.

    Requirements

    Education:

    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in food security, agricultural support, or livelihoods programming in humanitarian or development settings.
    • Previous experience with CfA/FFA, agricultural input distribution, and/or livestock management is a plus.

    Skills:

    • Strong communication and community mobilization skills.
    • Basic data collection and reporting skills.
    • Knowledge of sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices.
    • Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    Additional Requirements:

    • Willingness to work in remote and challenging field locations.
    • Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri is an advantage.
