In Nigeria, MAG programming aims to reduce armed violence by addressing risks related to explosive ordnance (EO) and the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons (SALW). Specifically, MAG projects aim to enhance local engagement and safety awareness regarding SALW and EO through community-based activities and support locally-driven AVR initiatives; capacity-build state agencies to prevent and respond to the spread of illicit SALW proliferation, through the safe and effective storage and management of weapons and ammunition; increase state capacity to individually and collaboratively address risks related to SALW and ammunition.
