    Internal Audit and Compliance Intern

    JOB SUMMARY

    • We are seeking a young, passionate, and motivated Audit & Compliance Intern to provide support on auditing services, from conducting financial reviews, compliance assessments, and risk evaluations to ensuring adherence to organizational policies, donor regulations, and statutory requirements. This paid internship opportunity offers hands-on learning experience in audit processes, governance, and accountability within a fast-paced, dynamic, donor-funded nonprofit environment.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in reviewing financial records, payment vouchers, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.
    • Assist in planning and conducting internal audit engagements across departments and projects.
    • Support the preparation of audit working papers, reports, and documentation in line with audit standards.
    • Assist with collecting, analyzing, and verifying data to support audit findings, and help document results and prepare audit working papers.
    • Support compliance monitoring of internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Learn and apply basic principles of internal control assessments.
    • Liaise regularly with other members of the audit exercise
    • Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to this role.   

    QUALIFICATIONS
    The ideal candidate should possess;

    • Minimum of a B.Sc. in Accounting/Banking and Finance (First class and Upper Second-class honors)
    • At least 1 year of cognate experience in accounting and/or auditing services
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems
    • Relevant experience in audit support, data analysis, or financial documentation will be an added advantage.
    • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools
    • Great attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
