Our client in the oil and gas industry is currently receiving applications for the role of Head, Trade Finance and Accounts.
This role involves overseeing and recording all trade and financial transactions of the business.
The key processes to be supported include; monthly reporting, cash transaction documentation, daily LCs Age Analysis, cash management, financial analysis, monitoring management's accounts and asset acquisition.
The Head, Trade Finance and Accounts will oversee negotiations with other financial institutions and lead the organisation's trade finance operations and strategies to ensure business development, as well as increased revenue and profitability.
Responsibilities
Prepare product purchasing Letter of Credit and Bank guarantees, once extensive consideration investigation of exposure has been completed.
Verify payments and documents to ensure compliance with the LC Terms. This includes verification of complex pricing and delivery terms as per supplier contracts.
Monitor the closure of LC’s and Bank guarantee’s to effectively managing the company’s credit line and engaging banks in technical discussions.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements comparing with the budget set.
Ensure that all Suppliers invoice under the LC’s are recorded to ensure completeness and accurate settlements/reconciliations.
Profitability for local buying and importation of refined/white petroleum products.
Prepare Extended Trial Balance from ledger balances.
Prepare the Annual Budget and quarterly review of the budget.
Timely remittance of statutory deductions to the relevant regulatory Bodies and engaging in technical tax issues.
Effectively manage the funds that are available for projects i.e effective and efficient working capital management via capital rationing.
Ensure that the company is always in a liquid position (cash flow management) and ensure funds can be made available for normal administrative running of the operations of the company.
Negotiate the best interest rates either for investments or projects for the company.
Ensure all documentation is maintained to highest standards and ensure all processes are followed.
Ensure that transaction processing is handled within agreed timelines.
Keep updated on all products; be well skilled and aware of all changes and amendments to product features, procedures and processes.
Establish and maintain strong professional relationships/connections internally and externally.
Ensure proper filing is done, upon completion of transactions.
Continuously monitor and assess the efficiency of workflow in regard to internal/external customer expectations, information exchange and documentation.
Authorise the postings into the software for ledgers update.
Ensure adherence to deadlines and reporting.
Check balancing of suspense accounts / online accounts at end of each month.
Physical verification of transaction files on a half-yearly basis.
Ensure that Banks policies, procedures and guidelines are consistently and strictly followed.
Assets maintenance and verifications.
All other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time.
Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, MBA
Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in Trade Finance
ACA is a pre-requisite
Finance and management reporting
Funds sourcing
UCP 600 of Letter of Credit
Communication skills (written and oral); disseminating information in clear, unambiguous terms to employees and management
Solution oriented (thinking outside the box) and proactive decision-making
Computer literacy
Good leadership qualities such as tact and diplomacy
