Head of Operations (Fintech) at Payment Access System Limited (PaySys)

Job Summary

• The Operations role in the fintech industry is responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day running of financial and non-financial transactions, process efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
• The position involves coordinating transaction processing, reconciliations, settlements, and operational risk management, while supporting the scaling of fintech products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily transaction processing across payments, transfers, wallets, and other fintech platforms.
• Ensure accurate and timely reconciliations of customer accounts, partner accounts, and internal records.
• Support settlements with banks, payment processors, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor transaction flows to identify failures, delays, fraud attempts, or anomalies, and resolve issues promptly.
• Work with compliance and risk teams to ensure KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements are met.
• Develop, document, and improve operational processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Coordinate with technical support, product, and finance teams to resolve operational bottlenecks.
• Manage and track disputes, chargebacks, reversals, and refunds within agreed timelines.
• Support automation initiatives to improve process efficiency and reduce operational risks.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance and risk reports for management.
• Assist in onboarding new partners, merchants, and agents while ensuring operational readiness.
• Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal and external stakeholders.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in operations within fintech, banking, or payment services.
• Strong knowledge of payment systems, settlements, reconciliations, and digital financial products.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (CBN, PCI-DSS, AML/KYC standards, etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and experience with reconciliation tools or ERP/fintech platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills.
