The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing accurate and timely laboratory testing, analysis, and monitoring of crude oil, produced water, injection water, chemicals, and environmental samples in support of production operations onboard the FSO.
Conduct routine and non-routine sampling, analysis, and quality control tests on all crude oil, produced water, sample seawater, diesel, injection water, and chemicals in accordance with industry standards (ASTM, API, ISO).
Monitor key parameters such as BS&W, RVP, salinity, pH, density, viscosity, interface detection, and H₂S levels to ensure product certification and compliance.
Support cargo lifting operations by conducting export crude quality analysis and issuing quality certificates.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related science field.
Minimum of 6 years experience in laboratory operations within upstream oil & gas, FPSO/FSO, or offshore production environments.
Valid offshore survival and medical certification (BOSIET/FOET & OGUK/Equivalent).
Previous crude export certification and cargo quality monitoring experience is strongly preferred.
Demonstrable experience working with standard oilfield laboratory analytical equipment (e.g., centrifuge, spectrophotometer, titrators, oil-in-water analyzer, H₂S tester, viscometer, density meter).
Strong familiarity with Nigerian regulatory standards (NUPRC/DPR, NOSDRA) and quality control frameworks (ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
Experience with laboratory information systems and computerized data reporting tools.
Extensive understanding of crude oil properties, production chemistry, and water treatment processes.
Familiarity with chemical injection systems and corrosion/scale inhibitor performance monitoring.
