Fleet Maintenance Manager at GIG Logistics

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all vehicles.
• Supervise workshop operations, mechanics, technicians, and maintenance staff.
• Monitor vehicle performance and ensure timely servicing, repairs, and inspections.
• Control maintenance costs by analysing expenses, negotiating with vendors, and sourcing quality parts.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records, including compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure vehicles meet road safety standards and government regulations (e.g., licensing, inspections, emissions).
• Track downtime and breakdowns, and implement solutions to reduce recurring faults.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability without excessive stockholding.
• Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to schedule servicing without disrupting business activities.
• Prepare and present reports on fleet utilisation, maintenance costs, fuel usage, and vehicle lifespan.
• Drive adoption of fleet management technologies and telematics to improve efficiency.
• Lead, train, and develop the maintenance team to ensure high performance and safety standards.
• Support in fleet acquisition and disposal planning by providing data-driven recommendations.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems (diesel, petrol, and alternative fuels).
• Hands-on experience with fleet maintenance management systems (FMIS).
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage budgets, cost control, and vendor relationships.
• Strong knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in fleet/vehicle maintenance management, preferably in logistics, transportation, or related industries.
• Proven experience managing large fleets (trucks, vans, or mixed vehicles).
• Professional certifications (e.g., ASE, CILT, or OEM training) are an added advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and fleet management software.
