    Female House Parent(Boarding School)

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a responsible and highly organised Female Boarding House Parent to join our client, a British international school located in Ikeja, Lagos. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the welfare, safeguarding, and personal development of female boarding students, providing a nurturing “home away from home” environment that aligns with the values and ethos of a British-style education.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide high-quality care and supervision for female boarders.
    • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive boarding environment that encourages students’ academic, emotional, and social well-being.
    • Maintain positive and respectful relationships with students, parents, and staff.
    • Monitor students\' health and well-being, including administering medication and liaising with medical professionals when necessary.
    • Promote good discipline, punctuality, hygiene, and respect for others within the house.
    • Organise and supervise routines such as wake-up, meals, prep (study) time, bedtimes, and weekend activities.
    • Communicate regularly with the Head of Boarding and pastoral staff on student progress and concerns.
    • Keep accurate records and reports on student welfare, behaviour, and incidents.
    • Support students in developing independence, responsibility, and strong interpersonal skills.
    • Uphold school safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

    Person Specification:

    Essential:

    • Female (due to the pastoral care role in a female boarding house)
    • Degree or qualification in education, psychology, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in a British curriculum or international school setting.
    • Strong pastoral instincts and genuine interest in the welfare of young people.
    • Experience working with children or teenagers, ideally in a residential or boarding context.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Able to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
    • Culturally sensitive, professional, and adaptable to an international school environment.
    • A clear commitment to safeguarding and child protection
    • Health or first aid training.
    • Counselling, mentoring, or youth work background.
