    Auto Mechanic (Heavy Duty Trucks)

    Overview

    • A Heavy Truck Mechanic who would beresponsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and trailers such as Howo, Man, Atros, Foton to ensure safe and efficient operation.
    • This role involves working with diesel ans CNG engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and computerized diagnostics while adhering to safety and quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanicaland hydraulic issues in heavy-duty trucks and trailers
    • Perform routine maintenance such as engine overhauling, transmission, oil changes, brake inspections, air systemand fluid checks
    • Repair or replace engines, transmissions, axles, suspensions, steering, and braking systems
    • Use diagnostic tools and computerized systems to identify faults
    • Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend vehicle life
    • Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper performance and safety
    • Maintain accurate service and repair records
    • Comply with workplace safety policies and environmental regulations

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Proven experience as a heavy truck or diesel mechanic
    • Strong knowledge of diesel & CNG engines, air brake systems, and electrical systems
    • Ability to read technical manuals and diagnostic reports
    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
    • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in various positions

    Required Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years cognate experience as an auto mechanic

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • OND, SSCE, NECO
    • Trade Tests 1, 11, 111

    Working Conditions:

    • Work may be performed in a workshop or an outdoor environment
    • Exposure to noise, grease, and heavy equipment
    • May require shift work, overtime, weekends, or on-call duties.
