    Finance and Budget Manager

    Location: Ajase-Ipo, Kwara
    Reporting to: The Rector

    Summary
    IVTEC is a pioneering technical and vocational education model initiated by the Kwara State Government (KWSG). KWSG provided the initial funding and partnered with a world-renowned City & Guilds International for the design and construction of campus facilities, which were completed in 2015. As an NGO, the organizational and financial structure of IVTEC allows for an array of partnerships and collaborations with individuals, business and industry from within and outside Nigeria to ensure its future financial sustainability.

    IVTEC is scheduled to commence operations in the last quarter of 2017 with the first set of instructional programs in Automotive, Building/Construction, Welding, Electrical, and HVAC trades.

    About the Role

    • The Finance Manager plays a central role in assuring that the IVTEC meets its fiduciary responsibility to donors, government officials, employees, students and the general public.
    • The Finance Manager evaluates the adequacy and quality of financial reporting to ensure reports submitted meets international financial reporting standards
    • The Finance Manager has responsibility for establishing and monitoring a sound business environment so that various funding sources (such as government agencies, donors and students) can confidently provide resources in support of the IVTEC’s academic mission.
    • To ensure this sound business environment, the Finance Manager develops and monitors IVTEC policies related to internal control, financial and accounting requirements, procurement, sponsored project financial administration, indirect costs, service Colleges, facilities management, administrative system use and human resources.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Collates, prepares and interprets reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries and financial statements
    • Ensures sufficient, sustainable funding arid disbursement
    • Leads and manage all aspects of finance and administration at the KVTEDC; finance, procurement, security, and asset maintenance

    Requirements, Education & Certification

    • B.Sc/M.Sc Accounting/Financial Management
    • Years in Career: minimum of 12 years.
    • ICAN/ACCA is compulsory.

    Required Skills & Experience:

    • At least 5 years managerial position;
    • Solid understanding of the Vocational Education and Training industry needs and trends;
    • Well developed leadership and managerial skills in a financial environment;
    • High level of digital literacy and familiarity with database management systems;
    • Familiarity with ERP and Financial Management software;
    • Ability to communicate in the verbal and Written language with all internal and external stakeholders in an unambiguous manner;
    • Demonstrated understanding of performance management; governance and accountability; financial risk assessment, strategic & financial planning, financial policies & accounting requirements
