    Detailed Job Description

    • The successful candidate will report to the group managing director and lead the company’s operations and business development while overseeing the effective execution of the company’s strategy

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Champion the development of the Company’s corporate strategy in line with the Group’s overall strategy and provide strategic guidance and oversight to Departmental Heads in the development of tactical and operational plans
    • Ensure clear and unambiguous communication of the overall business objectives and strategic direction to the lowest level of the organisation
    • Ensure the development of annual operating and business plans to support the realisation of the corporate strategy, objectives and work programs and recommend to the GMD for review and approval
    • Ensure prompt implementation of the Organisation’s approved operational plans making sure they are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
    • Review periodic reports on the Organisation’s performance and scorecard with regard to strategic plans and relative to competitors and ensure prompt rectification of performance lapses
    • Regularly review the company’s safety manual and risk management policies and practices to ensure compliance, business continuity and the achievement of key business objectives
    • Ensure continuous review and assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of the Organisation’s policies, procedures and processes and identify improvement opportunities
    • Monitor and stay abreast of industry, national and global developments, trends and events to ability to maintain and sharpen its competitive positioning and advantage
    • Stay abreast of new Safety management policies and regulations published by the ISM and ensure strict compliance by all stakeholders
    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key organisations and investors and champion the formulation of strategic business alliances
    • Ensure timely preparation and rendition of relevant reports to the Board
    • Review departmental performance reports and conduct performance appraisal of heads of departments
    • Facilitate resolution of issues between departments and take charge in high-priority crises
    • Review and authorize key expenditures and transactions in line with the approved budgets and authority limits
    • Ensure effective and efficient prioritization and coordination of the company’s expansion projects
    • Serve as the Company’s main brand promoter by representing it at key functions and occasions and ensure that its key initiatives and programs consistently reinforce and renew its corporate brand value and identity
    • Coordinate day-to-day activities and provide leadership to direct reports and the entire staff of the company
    • Ensure a work environment that recruits, retains and supports quality staff
    • Advice the GMD and Board on technical matters as required.

    Qualification(s)/ Requirement(s)

    • Minimum of twelve (12) years relevant experience with deep oil and gas industry knowledge.
    • At least seven (7) years must have been at a strategic management level
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or other related fields
    • An MBA, MSc. or equivalent postgraduate degree or membership/ qualification in Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage

    • Downstream Oil and Gas
    • HSSE

    Competency and Skill Requirements:

    • Good knowledge of the local and global Marine industry dynamics including regulations, legislations and operating environment
    • Good knowledge of technical and regulatory guidelines for operations of shipping vessels including relevant leading practices in quality assurance, risk management and HSSE management
    • Ability to think strategically and holistically and to appreciate the systemic impact of various policies, issues and solutions
    • Good understanding of micro and macroeconomic indices and its impact on the business
    • Strong business acumen and ability to identify and convert opportunities
    • Political correctness, maturity, tact and an ability to foster and sustain relationship with key stakeholders and regulators
    • Strong entrepreneurial orientation
    • Good leadership/organisational skills
    • Strong negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
    • Good ethics and integrity
    • Good analytical and presentation skills
    • Good communications /interpersonal skills
