    Senior Editor

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking an experienced Senior Editor to lead and manage our editorial department. The ideal candidate will oversee the entire editorial process, from manuscript acquisition to publication, ensuring all content meets the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and creativity.
    • As a Senior Editor, you will provide strategic direction, mentor a team of editors, proofreaders and writers, and work closely with authors and other departments to achieve the company’s publishing goals.

    Key Roles

    • Lead and supervise the editorial team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to deadlines.
    • Develop, implement, and enforce editorial policies, guidelines and quality standards.
    • Oversee the editing, proofreading, and production of books, manuscripts and other publications.
    • Collaborate with authors, designers, production and marketing teams to deliver high-quality publications on schedule.
    • Identify and acquire promising manuscripts and proposals that align with the company’s vision and market trends.

    Responsibilities

    • Review, edit and approve manuscripts for clarity, grammar, style, and consistency.
    • Ensure all publications meet editorial standards, brand voice and ethical publishing practices.
    • Oversee copyediting, proofreading and fact-checking processes.
    • Provide developmental editing to improve structure, readability and audience engagement.
    • Guide and mentor other editors, proofreaders and writers, offering constructive feedback.
    • Manage the editorial workflow from acquisition to final publication.
    • Coordinate with design, production and marketing teams to ensure the timely release of publications.
    • Monitor copyright, permissions and legal compliance issues.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, digital innovations and new publishing opportunities.
    • Develop and manage editorial calendars and schedules to meet deadlines.
    • Contribute to strategies for expanding readership and increasing market presence.
    • Evaluate market trends to guide acquisitions and publishing decisions.
    • Support the development of digital and multimedia publishing products.

    Qualifications/Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Linguistics, Mass Communication, Publishing, or a related field (Master’s Degree is an advantage).
    • 5–7 years of progressive editorial experience, including supervisory responsibility.
    • Exceptional editing, proofreading and writing skills with a strong command of grammar, style and editorial best practices.
    • Proven leadership, organisational and project-management abilities; able to handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with authors and cross-functional teams.
    • Good understanding of copyright law, permissions and ethical publishing practices.
    • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and platforms (an added advantage).

    Production Manager

    Responsibilities

    • Plan and manage production schedules for books, journals and materials.
    • Coordinate effective processes and timelines to ensure on-time completion of projects.
    • Oversee typesetting, page layout, formatting, and proofreading processes.
    • Liaise with editors, designers, illustrators, and printers.
    • Approve print and digital proofs before final production.
    • Ensure final products meet quality standards (color, layout, binding, resolution).
    • Prepare and manage production budgets.
    • Optimize costs without reducing quality.
    • Assign work to in-house production in- house staff and part time workers
    • Monitor workloads to avoid delays.
    • Resolve production problems such as misprints, late deliveries, or supplier issues.
    • Keep records of schedules, budgets, and vendor contracts.
    • Track performance and costs for reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with copyright laws, printing standards, and environmental regulations.
    • Research and introduce new technologies or workflows to improve efficiency

    Qualification and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Publishing, Printing Technology, Graphics Design, Industrial Production, Mass Communication or related field.
    • Professional Certification in print production or project management is an added advantage.

    Experience

    • 5-7years of continuous and progressive experience in book or print production, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory/managerial role.

    Required Skills:

    • Technical expertise in printing processes, prepress/layout software, and digital publishing tools.
    • Project management skills for scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating multiple tasks.
    • Strong communication and negotiation abilities for working with teams and vendors.
    • Problem-solving skills to handle delays, errors, or cost challenges.
    • Attention to detail to ensure quality and consistency in final products.
    • Leadership skills to supervise staff, motivate teams, and drive efficiency
