    Technical Support Specialist (Hardware & Software)

    Description

    • As a Technical Support Specialist, you will be the core technical mind responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing both computer hardware and software issues.
    • You will handle repairs for walk-in customer devices, prepare showroom systems for display, and offer technical advice.
    • The ideal candidate must possess deep practical knowledge of computer components and operating systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Hardware Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and fix physical computer components, including replacing cracked screens, faulty keyboards, batteries, hard drives, and logic board adjustments.
    • Software Troubleshooting: Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems (Windows, macOS) and essential software applications. Resolve OS crashes, virus/malware issues, and driver conflicts.
    • Pre-Sale Testing: Inspect, test, and set up newly arrived laptops and desktops to ensure they meet quality standards before being placed on the sales floor.
    • Customer Technical Support: Clearly explain technical diagnoses, repair options, and cost estimates to customers in a polite and professional manner.
    • Warranty Assessment: Evaluate returned devices to determine if the faults fall under manufacturer or store warranty guidelines.
    • Inventory & Tool Management: Keep track of workshop repair tools, spare parts inventory (RAM, SSDs, screens), and maintain a clean, organized technical workspace.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    • Education: SSCE, National Diploma (ND), Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on professional certifications
    • Experience: 2–4 years of proven experience working as a Computer Repair Technician, Hardware Engineer, or Technical Support Specialist in a retail or corporate environment.
    • Technical Hardware Skills: Expert-level ability to safely disassemble and reassemble various laptop and desktop brands (HP, Dell, Lenovo, Apple, Apple MacBooks, etc.) down to the component level.
    • Technical Software Skills: Proficiency in data backup and recovery, disk partitioning, OS installation, and network configuration.
    • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical jargon into simple terms for customers.
    • Problem-Solving: Highly analytical mindset with a patient, methodical approach to troubleshooting tricky hardware or software bugs.
