    Foreign Exchange Trader

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive FX Trader to join our trading team. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of currency markets, excellent risk management skills, and experience executing FX trades on behalf of financial institutions or clients. This role is critical to driving profitability, managing exposure, and supporting our foreign exchange operations in a compliant and strategic manner.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Execute spot, forward, and swap FX trades in line with the company’s trading strategy and market trends.
    • Monitor currency markets to identify trading opportunities and mitigate risk.
    • Analyze macroeconomic indicators, political events, and financial news to make informed trading decisions.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including CBN and AML standards.
    • Collaborate with risk, compliance, and treasury teams to manage exposure and capital efficiency.
    • Maintain trading logs, prepare reports, and contribute to portfolio performance reviews.
    • Evaluate and recommend FX products to internal teams and clients where applicable.
    • Track and assess currency volatility, liquidity, and pricing to support strategic planning.
    • Utilize trading platforms and data analytics tools to optimize execution and reporting.
    • Stay updated on industry developments, central bank policies, and regulatory changes.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
    • 3–5 years of FX trading experience within a financial institution, investment firm, or treasury department.
    • Strong understanding of FX markets, trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, MetaTrader), and derivatives.
    • Solid grasp of risk management, portfolio hedging, and financial compliance.
    • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and decision-making skills.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Python or VBA is an added advantage.
    • Certifications such as ACI Dealing Certificate or CFA Level I/II are a plus.
