    Nutrition Lead, Nigeria Livestock

    Overview

    • ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Nutrition Lead for an anticipated livestock program in Nigeria funded by USAID.
    • The Activity will explore practical, cost effective, and multi-stakeholder adaptation solutions to improve livelihoods of poor and vulnerable communities in target states.
    • The Nutrition Lead will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition-sensitive interventions and activities across the entirety of the program.
    • The program is anticipated to start in late December 2022 and this position will be based in Nigeria.

    Responsibilities

    • Support, manage, and advocate for the integration of high quality and responsive approaches across the entirety of the program to increase availability, affordability, access to and consumption of safe, nutritious foods, particularly for women, youth, and other vulnerable groups
    • Oversee the implementation of field research to identify key opportunities for increasing food availability, affordability, accessibility, for the consumption of safe, nutritious food
    • Co-create the design and implementation of interventions that increase household production, access to, purchase, and consumption of nutrient-rich foods, particularly for women, youth, and other vulnerable groups, applying nutrition-sensitive best practices and input from ACDI/VOCA Home Office Technical Experts
    • Provide technical guidance on the development of tools, resources, and models to facilitate the integration of nutrition into agriculture and market systems development interventions
    • Design and conduct participatory workshops on nutrition-sensitive agriculture and/or food systems for program participants, including households, private sectors actors, and government
    • Facilitate the increased capacity of all staff members in nutrition
    • Direct implementation teams to carry out project activities as needed
    • Implement Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) best practices to inform and scale-up nutrition and food systems interventions

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or relevant field required; Master’s Degree preferred
    • 5 years of experience integrating nutrition into agriculture and/or market systems development projects, preferably in Nigeria
    • Experience working with food systems actors, including rural producers, farmers’ associations, agribusinesses, private sector agricultural production, private sector food processors, or governments desired
    • Understanding of gender- and youth-integrated agriculture concepts and ability to integrate gender into nutrition-sensitive approaches
    • Strong analytical skills, including ability to gather and analyze a variety of information pertaining to issues and to develop appropriate recommendations for action
    • Excellent written communication skills required, with a demonstrated ability to write reports in a clear, concise manner
    • Fluency in English (written and oral) is required; knowledge of regional languages is a plus.

    Market Systems Lead, Nigeria Livestock

    Overview

    • ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Market Systems Lead for an anticipated livestock program in Nigeria funded by USAID.
    • The Activity will explore practical, cost effective, and multi-stakeholder adaptation solutions to improve livelihoods of poor and vulnerable communities in target states.
    • The Market Systems Lead will conduct analysis and necessary reflections for the development of a strategy and marketing action plan that will enable better positioning and increased market share and actors’ income.
    • The program is anticipated to start in late December 2022, and this position will be based in Nigeria.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical assistance to program beneficiaries in market identification and development, agricultural value chain development, agricultural supply chain management, private sector development, business development, regional and international trade policies, and promotion of investments
    • Design and implement strategies and project work plans to improve livestock productivity, strengthen market linkages, expand access to markets, support the development of diversified livelihoods opportunities, and strengthen input, service, and capacity building networks for livestock and diversified livelihoods activities
    • Provide technical assistance to agricultural product development via viable market orientation, considering the marketing issues related to the transition to high-value products
    • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with cooperatives, partners, collaborators, rural finance institutions, and any other associated stakeholders
    • Contribute to training of farmers and producer groups to better understand and analyze their markets
    • Collaborate with the M&E team to develop monitoring and evaluation tools on marketing outcomes
    • Support extension staff working with farmers and producer groups to create new and/or diversified market linkages
    • Collaborate with the private sector to facilitate the purchasing and transport of agricultural products that meet target market quality standards
    • Ensure the reporting on results, changes, revenue generation, and profitability of marketed volumes ICT/digitization technologies and private sector engagement

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Business Management or relevant field required; Master’s Degree preferred
    • 6 years of experience in market studies, economic growth, trade, value chain development, competitiveness, or agricultural development programs
    • Experience with livestock programs focused on inclusive growth and resilience in Nigeria strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of the latest developments in advancing good/best practices in value chain development and USAID’s value chain approach is preferred

    Resilience Lead, Nigeria Livestock

    Overview

    • We are seeking an experienced Resilience Lead for an anticipated livestock program in Nigeria funded by USAID.
    • The Activity will explore practical, cost effective, and multi-stakeholder adaptation solutions to improve livelihoods of poor and vulnerable communities in target states.
    • The Resilience Lead will be responsible for working across the Activity’s areas to advance women and youth considerations at the production, processing, and marketing levels of interventions.
    • The program is anticipated to start in late December 2022, and this position will be based in Nigeria.

    Responsibilities

    • Establish and manage systems to ensure cohesion across all technical sectors of the Activity
    • Ensure technical interventions are integrated, layered, and sequenced appropriately at all levels of implementation within the Activity
    • Strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities through improved livelihoods, climate change adaptation, social behavior change, and social capital, preferably through an integrated approach
    • Ensure the achievement of Activity goals and objectives in line with annual plans by providing technical advice and direction to the Activity team
    • Provide technical expertise, coordination, capacity building, and support to regional resilience initiatives for livestock systems
    • Represent the Activity in coordination, capacity building, and partnership meetings with regional policy, private sector companies, research organizations, and government/ministry staff
    • Oversee day-to-day planning, design, and operations of project and technical teams to ensure effective project implementation

    Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and direction to the Finance and Administration team with close oversight of the project’s finances, including financial analysis and accounting management
    • Develop, oversee, and monitor all financial and accounting systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls, adapting them as necessary to meet changing regulations and best practices
    • Establish efficient financial and operational systems including internal audits, compliance, and risk management
    • Lead the annual budgeting process and review all financial plans and budgets, monitoring progress and changes

    Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) Director, Nigeria Livestock

    Overview

    • ACDI/VOCA is seeking a MEL and CLA Director for an anticipated livestock program in Nigeria funded by USAID. The Activity will explore practical, cost effective, and multi-stakeholder adaptation solutions to improve livelihoods of poor and vulnerable communities in target states.
    • The MEL and CLA Director will design and manage the MEL and CLA plan and learning agenda on technical and management processes.
    • They will supervise the MEL, KM, communication, and reporting functions to systematically generate, synthesize, share, and apply learning, effective, and adaptive management.
    • The program is anticipated to start in late December 2022 and this position will be based in Nigeria (most likely Abuja).

    Responsibilities

    • Facilitate learning workshops with MEL and technical leads, engaging partners in identifying evidence-based ways to adapt and scale interventions
    • Create, share, and manage relevant knowledge assets that support program outcomes
    • Ensure that programmatic learning and results are fully documented, shared, and used to drive adaptive management processes
    • Lead the collection, analysis, documentation, dissemination, and use of best practices and lessons learned
    • Design and implement internal and external knowledge exchange and learning events to improve peer-to-peer learning, knowledge sharing and application
    • Supervise the detailed work plan for implementation of the program’s Communication and Outreach Strategy
    • Develop and/or maintain strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders to promote effective coordination, collaboration, and dissemination of program learning

    • Complete impact assessment, baseline, midline, and end line surveys to assess the impact of the project on livelihoods
    • Design learning approaches that enable analysis of data, context, and emerging experience, as well as iterative adaptive management for the Activity's technical approaches

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business Administration, or relevant field required
    • 8 years of experience implementing knowledge management and sharing/learning, using CLA principles and approaches
    • Demonstrated experience using a mix of informational sources and research methods to analyze project progress, communicate findings to a range of external and internal stakeholders, and apply learning to work planning
    • Proven leadership in supervising staff, managing multiple complex project components, and convening people across technical teams to build consensus and achieve an outcome
    • Ability to provide technical assistance and advisory services to a range of financial service providers

    • The GSI Manager will lead the development and implementation of the program’s overall strategy for GSI and will ensure the integration of women and other vulnerable populations into all program activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide GSI technical advice and trainings to program staff, partners, and stakeholders to build their capacity to integrate gender considerations into designing interventions, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation
    • Lead or assist in the design and implementation of GSI analyses, impact assessments, and other learning studies
    • Review and provide input to project work plans, with attention to GSI dimensions of technical activities and operations and discuss GSI issues and priorities with project senior management and other technical specialists

    • Previous USAID-funded project experience strongly preferred
    • Experience conducting gender analysis and research a plus
    • Strong oral and written communication skills required
