    Breeding Technical Coordinator – Poultry

    Details of each mission    

    Technical Breeding Support & Farm Advisory

    • Serve as the primary technical expert for Novogen layer breeds in Nigeria, advising breeder farmers and layer producers on breed management, rearing protocols, and performance optimisation.
    • Conduct regular farm visits to evaluate flock health, biosecurity standards, feeding regimes, and environmental management, providing actionable technical recommendations.
    • Deliver structured technical training and on-farm coaching to breeder farm managers and staff on Novogen’s breed-specific management guidelines and global best practices. 
    • Diagnose production challenges on breeder and commercial farms, and develop practical intervention plans to restore or improve performance outcomes.
    • Liaise with Novogen’s international technical teams to escalate complex issues and access breed-specific guidance and updated production protocols.
    • Act as Novogen’s technical representative and credible breed authority in the Nigerian poultry industry.
    • Collaborate with Feed Avenue management on technical reporting, programme planning, and operational matters.

    Breed Performance Monitoring & Data Analysis

    • Systematically collect, record, and analyse field data on flock performance metrics including egg production rates, feed conversion, mortality, body weight, and uniformity across all assigned farms.
    • Compare on-farm results against Novogen’s breed standards and performance targets, identifying variances and generating technical reports with corrective recommendations.

    Stakeholder & Key Account Relations

    • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key breeder farmers, farm managers, veterinarians, and strategic partners grounded in technical credibility and consistent service delivery.
    • Ensure farm satisfaction through structured visit schedules, technical follow-ups, and transparent performance reviews that demonstrate Novogen breed value.
    • Provide technical input to support supply discussions, ensuring breed recommendations and flock placement plans are grounded in scientific and practical knowledge.
    • Resolve farm technical issues and performance concerns promptly, professionally, and with evidence-based solutions.

    Market Support & Business Development

    • Support the identification of new farm placements and market opportunities by providing technical assessments of farm readiness and breed suitability.
    • Contribute technical content to promotional materials, farm demonstrations, and industry events that position Novogen as the preferred layer breed in the Nigerian market.
    • Conduct farm evaluations and provide evidence-based recommendations that improve flock productivity, reduce costs, and demonstrate the commercial value of the Novogen breed.
    • Monitor Nigerian poultry market trends, competitor breed activity, and farmer needs, providing structured intelligence reports to management to inform business strategy.

    Skills required for the position

    Theorical and practical knowledges    

    • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Agribusiness, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3–5 years of proven technical experience in poultry production, layer breeding management, or livestock advisory roles.
    • Valid Nigerian driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
    • Direct hands-on experience working with breeder farms or commercial layer operations is essential.

    Technical and methodological know-how    

    • Deep technical knowledge of layer poultry production systems, including breeder flock management, rearing, egg production cycles, nutrition, biosecurity, and flock health.
    • Strong command of poultry genetics, breed performance standards, key production indicators, and the ability to interpret and apply breed management manuals.
    • Proven practical field experience conducting farm visits, diagnosing production problems, and advising farm managers and production teams on corrective measures.
    • Familiarity with the Nigerian poultry industry landscape, including key production regions, farm structures, common challenges, and the regulatory environment.
    • Ability to produce structured technical reports, farm visit summaries, and performance analyses with clear, evidence-based recommendations.
    • Ability to design and deliver on-farm technical training programmes and breed management coaching adapted to varying farmer skill levels.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and analysis.
    • Ability to collect, analyse, and interpret field performance data, and translate findings into actionable technical guidance for farm teams.
    • Basic commercial awareness and understanding of market development, with the ability to support business growth through technical credibility rather than direct sales.

    • Effective collaboration with Novogen’s international technical teams and Feed Avenue management to ensure alignment between global breed standards and on-the-ground Nigerian operations.
