    Vice Chancellor

    Job Description

    • The Vice Chancellor is the Academic and Administrative Head of the University and is responsible under the Governing Council and in accordance with the Statute of the University, for organizing and conducting the Academic, Financial and Administrative business of the University.
    • The Vice Chancellor as the Accounting Officer of the University is the Chief Academic, Administrative and Financial Officer of the University.
    • He/She is the Chief Disciplinary Officer and has authority over all employees and students of the University, subject to the Statute and Conditions of Service of the University.
    • The Vice Chancellor is responsible for the promotion of a world-class, high quality University education and the provision of necessary academic and administrative leadership.
    • Reporting to the University Council, he has mandate to provide institutional leadership and oversight, develop and drive the vision, mission and strategies for advancement of the University.
    • The position of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences calls for a versatile, highly ethical, responsible and respected individual with unassailable personal and professional integrity, with a distinguished record of accomplishment in the University system, and with proven leadership qualities, administrative and intellectual capabilities as well as teaching and research credentials.

    Requirements
    The candidates, who should be a seasoned academic, should possess the following minimum academic qualifications and competences:

    • Should not be more than 65 years old by March 10, 2025 when the office of Vice-Chancellor will be vacant.
    • Be a Medical Doctor, and a holder of an earned Doctorate (Ph.D) and/or Medical Fellowship Postgraduate Degrees, in addition to a first MBBS degree from a reputable University;
    • Have attained the position of a full professor for at least ten (10) years from the date of this advertisement and must have held senior administrative responsibilities in a recognized University;
    • Be a visionary and strategic leader with the skills and competencies to champion the University's Vision and Strategic Objectives;
    • Be an accomplished academic with a proven track record of quality research and publications in top global journals;
    • Have a proven track record of attracting research grants and funding support into the University System;
    • Have a demonstrated and proven record of substantial experience in international research partnerships, net working, team building, fundraising/ resource mobilization and collaborative research.

    Terms of Appointment

    • The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for one term of five (5) years.
    • The terms and conditions of appointment are very attractive and shall be determined according to the University Statute and Conditions of Service.

    Registrar

    Job Description

    • The University Registrar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer of the University, who is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University, except for financial matters which fall within the purview of the Bursar.
    • The Registrar is also the Secretary to the Council, Senate, Convocation, Congregation and other statutory bodies as defined by the University Law.
    • He/ She shall also perform all other duties assigned to him/ her by the Council and/or the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • The ideal candidate for the post of the Registrar, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo must possess a good (Honours) Degree in Arts, Humanities, Management or related discipline, not lower than a Second Class (Lower Division), a Master's degree plus at least fifteen (15) years post- qualification experience in the Nigerian University System.
    • Candidate must not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar and must have spent at least five (5) years at the Management level, with vast experience in administrative activities in a reputable Nigerian University.
    • Membership of relevant professional bodies is compulsory, i.e ANUPA, NIM,IPMA.
    • Due consideration will also be given to candidate with international experience and must not be older than 60 years of age by 5th January, 2025 when the position will become vacant.

    Requirements:

    • The person who will be Registrar, given the complexity and scientific nature of the administrative processes of a 21st Century University, must not only be a goal-getter, but must also be able to show drive, exceptional initiative, great ability for institutional networking with the outside world and must have a suave mien that typifies a 21st Century world- class University.
    • He/she must be a person of proven integrity, possess high moral character, an excellent manager of human resources and a team player. He/she must be a person with proven leadership qualities and good interpersonal skills;
    • The job demands a person who can instill confidence in others, as well as command loyalty and respect of people;
    • The person must understand the complexity of a University system and be capable of harnessing the potentials of subordinates to attain the overall goal of the University;
    • He/she must be a person with an articulate Vision for the development of the University in general and the Registry in particular, combined with a strong passion to implement the Vision;
    • Must be of good physical and mental health, a pleasant disposition;
    • Must be up-to-date in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills;
    • Must be devoid of any criminal record; and
    • Must be able to demonstrate sagacity and wisdom in the face of crisis or undesirable situations.

    Tenure of Office and Terms of Appointment

    • The Registrar shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years in line with the University of Medical Science Law (2014).

    Salary and Conditions of Service

    • The Remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the Post of Registrar of Public Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the State Government and the University Council as appropriate.
