Conduct comprehensive eye examinations including visual acuity testing, refraction, and slit-lamp evaluations.
Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and refractive errors.
Perform surgical procedures including cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation, trabeculectomy, pterygium excision, eyelid repair, and other anterior segment surgeries.
Provide post-operative care and follow-up consultations.
Educate patients on ocular health, contact lens care, and safety practices.
Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic nurses, and other eye care professionals.
Participate in quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
Job Requirements:
Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCOph) and/or the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS – Ophthalmology).
Valid and current Annual Practicing License from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Minimum of 4 years post-fellowship experience in a reputable eye care institution.
Active membership with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to diagnose visual conditions and ocular diseases.
Perform routine and follow-up eye exams for pediatric and adult patients.
Analyze diagnostic test results and develop treatment plans.
Prescribe and dispense eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
Screen and triage urgent or walk-in patients.
Educate patients on visual hygiene, lens care, and eye safety.
Refer patients to ophthalmologists when necessary.
Job Requirements:
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
Membership in a recognized professional organization such as the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA) or Optometry and Dispensing Optician Board of Nigeria (ODOBN).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and people management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
