    Kitchen Assistant

    Job Description

    Position Summary:

    • The Kitchen Assistant at Huxton Hotel plays a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations and ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the culinary department.
    • This position involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and collaborating with the kitchen team to deliver exceptional culinary experiences for guests.
    • The Kitchen Assistant reports to the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in food preparation and cooking under the guidance of the kitchen team, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas, in compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
    • Wash, peel, chop, and slice ingredients as directed by the kitchen staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
    • Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing food and supplies, properly rotating stock and monitoring expiration dates.
    • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and smooth food service, including plating and garnishing dishes, as needed.
    • Operate kitchen equipment, such as mixers, grinders, slicers, and ovens, following safety guidelines and instructions.
    • Support the team in maintaining inventory levels and notifying the appropriate personnel when supplies or ingredients need to be replenished.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates should possess an SSCE qualification with 1 - 3 years relevant work experience.
    • Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment operation.
    • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper hygiene practices.
    • Ability to follow instructions, recipes, and portion sizes accurately.
    • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.

    • The Porter reports to the Front Office Supervisor or Front Office Manager and collaborates with various departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.

    Responsibilities

    • Greet guests upon arrival, assist with luggage handling, and provide a warm welcome to create a positive first impression.
    • Escort guests to their assigned rooms, explaining hotel facilities, amenities, and room features along the way.
    • Offer assistance and provide information to guests regarding local attractions, transportation, and hotel services.
    • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of public areas, including the lobby, entrance, and common areas, ensuring a welcoming and presentable environment.
