The Head of Sales leads the company’s end-to-end commercial strategy across the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry. This executive position will also be responsible for business development activities in all areas of the company’s interest including but not limited to LPG marketing and distribution, procurement and supply chain management, welding and construction services and other auxiliary services that will lead to key account acquisition, revenue growth, and market expansion.
Operating in a lean importation structure with no in-house storage, the role demands strong agility in managing third-party depots, credit risks, and regional competition.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sales Business Development
- Design and implement strategic sales plans that expand the company’s customer base and market share across Eastern Nigeria and beyond.
- Identify new B2B sales opportunities in industrial, commercial, and logistics hubs.
- Oversee product pricing, market forecasting, and margin optimization.
Commercial Operations and Trading
- Lead the commercial trading of imported petroleum products (PMS, AGO, DPK, LPG, etc.).
- Coordinate contract negotiations and execute major sales deals with marketers, distributors, and bulk buyers.
- Monitor forex, landing costs, and subsidy regulations to inform competitive pricing
Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management
- Build and manage high-level relationships with key stakeholders: major marketers, IOCs, regulatory bodies (NMDPRA, NNPC), and financial partners.
- Serve as the company’s commercial face at industry events, meetings, and negotiations.
Sales Team Leadership and Performance
- Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing sales team.
- Set performance targets, establish KPIs, and lead regular reviews to ensure goals are met.
Compliance, Contracts and Risk Management
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with industry regulations and corporate governance.
- Review and approve commercial contracts, credit terms, and client onboarding documents.
- Monitor and control credit risk exposure and overdue accounts.
Collaboration & Internal Coordination
- Work closely with operations, finance, and executive management to ensure sales strategy aligns with supply chain realities.
- Provide regular market intelligence and sales performance reports to executive leadership.
Requirements
- A good bachelor’s degree from a reputable university. A relevant master’s degree (MBA or MSc in Business Strategy, Energy Economics, or Oil & Gas Management) or professional qualification will be an advantage.
- 8 - 10+ years’ experience in oil & gas sales, trading, or marketing (particularly downstream), with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role.
- Deep understanding of Nigerian petroleum importation dynamics, market players, quota systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated success in growing a sales portfolio and leading commercial negotiations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and deal-closure skills.
- Willingness to travel and work in challenging terrain across Eastern Nigeria

The Head of Operations is responsible for overseeing all technical, logistical, and regulatory aspects of the company’s downstream activities. This includes managing the full lifecycle of petroleum product importation, inland distribution, contractor supervision, and support for the general business operations.
The role is critical in ensuring operational efficiency, cost optimization, safety compliance, and risk mitigation across a non-storage-based importation and distribution system.
Key Responsibilities:
Importation & Logistics Management
- Supervise the end-to-end process of petroleum importation, from vessel nomination to port clearance, discharge, and onward distribution.
- Interface with Customs, NPA, DPR, NMDPRA, and SON for smooth regulatory clearance and documentation.
- Coordinate third-party depot partnerships and manage tanker/transport logistics for seamless delivery.
Vendor and Contractor Oversight
- Select, vet, and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, marine agents, transporters, and depot operators.
- Conduct periodic performance reviews, compliance checks, and contract renegotiations.
SOPs, Cost Control and Process Optimization
- Develop, implement, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all operational activities.
- Control operational budgets, reduce demurrage and logistics costs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance, Safety and Crisis Response
- Ensure full compliance with industry health, safety, and environmental standards (HSSE).
- Lead incident investigations, audits, and safety drills.
- Respond effectively to operational disruptions such as port delays, regulatory hold-ups, or supply chain blockages.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Build and lead an effective operations team including field officers, compliance staff, and logistics coordinators.
- Coordinate closely with Sales, Finance, and Legal teams to align supply with commercial commitments.
