MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Logistics and Supply Manager, and in technical link with the Logistics Coordinator, the Logistics Assistant/Driver will manage the upkeep and repair duties of MDM premises and driving of MdM vehicles.
He will be responsible for maintaining the order of MDM facilities by doing various odd jobs such as servicing equipment, maintaining the outdoor environment, determining the need for repairs, responding to maintenance requests (electrical, plumbing, carpentry/furniture and so on). He will also be driving MdM vehicles according to the MdM procedures
The ideal candidate should be skillful and possess technical knowledge with good problem-solving skills. He must be well-organized with strong general repair skills and driving skills. Being detail-oriented with good physical stamina are greatly valued in this job.
TASKS DESCRIPTION:
Premises - Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry and Mechanical Responsibilities:
- Diagnose/trace all faults and determine extent of work required
- Develop estimates for materials/parts/components to be procured
- Ascertain quality of material to be purchased
- Advice on best methodology to execute repairs while having economics and quality in mind
- Carry out all forms of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical repairs
- Determines parts that need to be replaced and do same before their effects become adverse
- Carry out all repairs in tandem with global best practice
- Support all contractors in the execution of their responsibilities relating to work within the premise
- Ensure that all operations are carried out and conducted in a safe manner
- Maintain an inventory of all repairs/replacements and share same fortnightly
- Carry out weekly/daily inspection of all MDM properties and determine needs and report accordingly.
Stock Management responsibilities:
- Check, record and put away goods received, under the supervision of the Logistics and Supply Manager
- Regularly check inventory levels (physical counts)
- When an order is received: check the number of packages, check packaging and content and inform the Logistics and Supply Manager of any problems (missing or damaged goods etc)
- After receipt, immediately update the stock cards, recording the reference number of the receipt document and put the goods away following instructions of the Logistics and Supply Manager
- Ensure the availability of frequently used items in the store
- Ensure that all items are well organized and correctly stored, well protected, fully identified and easily accessible in terms of cleanliness, security, access etc.
Driving vehicles and passenger safety and security of transported materials/equipment’s:
- Following MDM driving Regulation
- Adapting his/her behavior and driving to assure passengers' security, MDM equipment and the rest of road/street users (drivers, pedestrians, etc.).
- Always drive according to the Nigerian circulation code and respecting speed limits
- Always wearing safety belt while driving and ensuring all passengers do the same
- Ensuring having a valid driving license and always have it ready for any eventual inspection
- Ensuring that all necessary documents are valid and renewed before the expiration date (yearly road safety check, registration of main drivers with the Rental Company, etc.)
Maintenance of the vehicle:
- Checking on a regular basis the vehicle's motor, oil level, breaks liquid, air pressure of wheels, wind shield liquid, etc.
- Alerting direct supervisor in case of technical problem or need for maintenance
- Organizing or if possible, carrying out of any necessary maintenance after validation of direct supervisor
- Ensuring the vehicle is clean on the inside and outside
- Ensuring all necessary equipment and material is present in the vehicle and in good condition (tools, spare wheel, airlift, belts, ropes, etc.)
- Refilling the fuel tank each time the tank is at half of its capacity
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be flexible in performing his/her duties
- Perform other additional duties on request of the Logistics and Supply Manager
- Respect MDM rules and regulations.
