    Head, Credit & Marketing/ Business Development Manager

    Job Summary

    The Head of Credit & Marketing is responsible for driving the Microfinance Bank’s lending, deposit mobilization, and business growth strategies while maintaining high credit quality and portfolio performance. The role oversees credit analysis, loan approval processes, marketing activities, and customer relationship management to ensure profitability, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Credit Management

    • Develop and implement the Bank’s Credit Policy, ensuring alignment with CBN prudential guidelines and internal risk appetite.
    • Supervise the loan origination, appraisal, approval, disbursement, and recovery processes.
    • Conduct thorough credit risk analysis and ensure compliance with loan documentation standards.
    • Oversee the loan portfolio performance, ensuring low Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and high recovery rates.
    • Approve or recommend credit facilities within delegated authority limits.
    • Monitor loan repayments and ensure prompt follow-up on delinquent accounts.
    • Ensure periodic credit risk assessment and stress testing of the loan portfolio.
    • Present periodic credit reports to Management and the Board Credit Committee
    • Develop and execute marketing and business growth strategies to increase the bank’s customer base and revenue.
    • Identify, develop, and manage new market segments, products, and partnerships.
    • Drive deposit mobilization initiatives and ensure branch targets are met.
    • Lead the development of micro, SME, consumer, and agricultural lending products tailored to customer needs.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, associations, cooperatives, and community groups.
    • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and competitive trends.
    • Ensure all marketing and sales activities comply with the bank’s brand, ethics, and regulatory standards.
    • Lead, train, and mentor the credit and marketing team to enhance productivity and professionalism.
    • Set performance targets and monitor team achievement.
    • Promote a performance-driven culture focused on quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure continuous improvement in credit operations and customer relationship management processes.

    Risk Management & Compliance

    • Ensure adherence to CBN prudential guidelines, loan classification standards, and KYC/AML requirements.
    • Maintain effective collaboration with the Risk and Internal Control units to manage credit and operational risks.
    • Identify early warning signals in loan portfolios and take proactive actions to mitigate risks.
    • Participate in the design and implementation of credit scoring and loan monitoring systems.
    • Staff productivity and retention.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree  or HND in finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or related discipline.
    • Professional Certification: MCIB (Microfinance Certified)
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in credit, marketing, or business development, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within a financial institution or MFB.
    • Strong knowledge of CBN guidelines, credit risk management, micro-lending, and SME finance.
    • Proficiency in core banking applications and MS Office tools.

    Audit and Internal Control Officer / Manager

    Department: Internal Audit & Control

    Reports To: Managing Director / Board Audit Committee

    Location: Head Office / Branches

    Job Summary

    The Audit and Internal Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that all operations, financial transactions, and business activities of the Microfinance Bank comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and sound governance practices. The role provides assurance on the effectiveness of internal control systems, risk management, and governance processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Internal Audit Functions

    • Develop and implement an annual risk-based internal audit plan approved by the Board Audit Committee.
    • Conduct regular audit reviews of operational, financial, and compliance areas of the bank.
    • Verify the accuracy and reliability of financial records and reports.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness and adequacy of internal control systems across departments.
    • Conduct surprise cash counts and physical verification of assets, loans, and investments.
    • Review branch operations for compliance with standard operating procedures.
    • Prepare audit reports, highlighting control weaknesses, risks, and recommendations for improvement.
    • Follow up to ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations.
    • Develop and update internal control policies, manuals, and procedures.
    • Identify areas of potential operational or financial risk and recommend mitigating measures.
    • Ensure segregation of duties in critical processes to prevent fraud and errors.
    • Review loan disbursement, recovery, and documentation processes for control compliance.
    • Monitor system access rights and ensure proper authorization levels within the bank’s core banking application.
    • Ensure the bank’s activities comply with CBN regulations, NDIC guidelines, MFB Policy Framework, and other legal requirements.
    • Assist in preparing and submitting statutory reports to regulators (CBN, NDIC, FIU, etc.).
    • Support management during external audits and regulatory examinations.
    • Monitor transactions for fraud indicators and escalate suspicious activities.
    • Conduct investigations into reported or suspected cases of fraud, loss, or irregularities.
    • Recommend disciplinary or corrective actions where necessary.
    • Advise management on internal control implications of new products, services, and systems.
    • Provide training staff on risk awareness and control consciousness.
    • Support the Board Audit Committee with audit insights and progress updates.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or HND in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Professional Certification: Must Possess the MCIB (Microfinance Certified)
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal audit, control, or compliance (preferably in a financial institution or MFB).
    • Good understanding of Microfinance operations, CBN regulations, core banking systems, and risk management principles.

    Key Competencies

    • Strong analytical and investigative skills.
    • Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
    • High integrity and attention to detail.
    • Sound knowledge of internal control frameworks
    • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
