Responsibilities and Functions

• Perform preliminary research to identify pertinent legal subject areas and build a research plan.
• Undertake an in-depth study of existing legal texts to obtain a deeper understanding of what has already been published on the relevant subject areas. This will require gathering and evaluating extensively, research data from statutes, laws, reported cases, legal articles, codes, and documents, and the use of both primary and secondary sources of law.
• Perform broader research using local and international journal articles, newspaper publications, etc on the identified subjects of interest and conduct a detailed literature review to aid with the writing project.
• Identify, locate, and contact qualified researchers in the identified areas for contribution.
• Undertake such other duties/assuming such other responsibilities as are necessary for the attainment of the objectives of the project

Requirements

• Bachelor’s and Master's Degree holders (Applications will also be accepted from current Masters students, Ph.D. students, and graduate school applicants). However, students must demonstrate that their coursework will not impede their research.
• Minimum of Second Class (Upper) Division from a recognized institution.
• Three (3) to five (5) years post call experience in law.
• Internationally qualified lawyers interested in researching and engaging with various areas of substantive law and legal practice in Nigeria may also apply
• Knowledge of the law particularly criminal and family law and procedure
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Google Docs, and Project Management software.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Prior editorial and research skills are a plus
• Capability to utilize research tools and familiarity with google scholar, law reports, case laws, and the provision of the law in the selected fields.

Roles

• Work closely with the Group CEO and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, and systems and to follow through with implementation.
• Manage overall operations and is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures as established in the Group.
• Serve as a company representative on regulatory issues. Enhance the operational procedure, systems, and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting, and look for opportunities to expand systems.
• As an operations manager, you are responsible for managing a team of people, which involves both the engagement and development of these people.
• As the Operations Manager, you will support the project/Program planning process and ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are in place and targets are met.
• Overseeing and improving the human resources (HR), IT, and finance departments’ performance and efficiency by ensuring smooth workflows within each department and establishing easy and lucid communication channels between them.
• Manage the finance team to oversee the budgeting, costs, reporting, planning, forecasting and auditing.
• Develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures and document processes, monitor progress and prepare status reports.
• Observe current management practices, and interview staff to find areas for improvement and optimization
• Oversee the implementation of operational improvement and resource utilization strategies.
• Collaborating across departments to set realistic operational targets and timeframes.
• Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations.
• Determine the scope of governance structures via consultation and evaluation.
• Restructure departments and define employee roles.
• Facilitate training initiatives and promote best practices.
• Integrating new technologies and promoting adherence to industry standards.
• Organize and streamline the admin unit to make office operations more efficient.
• Manage the documentation of processes, monitor progress, and prepare status reports.
• Plan and coordinate administrative procedures, facilities services, maintenance activities and systems and devise ways to streamline office activities and processes.
• Ensure the smooth and adequate flow of information within the company to facilitate other business operations.
• Monitor costs and expenses to assist in administrative budget preparation.
• Manage tradespersons and staff schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications / Skills

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Management Science, Business Administration or a related field.
• Having a Master’s Degree and professional certifications, such as the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) program is an added advantage.
• 5+ years’ experience in business and operations management and or consulting.
• Extensive knowledge of operations/administrative management strategies.
• Excellent communication and networking skills.
• Exceptional analytic and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
• Thorough understanding of financial and budgeting processes and principles, which allows to assess the company’s earnings and spending to find areas for improvement.
• Proficiency in data analysis and business management software
