    IT Control Systems Engineer Offshore

    As a IT Controls Systems Engineer you will deliver or improve the range of activities necessary to seamlessly integrate and operate one of the world’s largest IT estates. The scope covers service management activities, Hybrid on-premise and Cloud operational landscapes with many integration points; and the integration of the interdependent services of diverse internal and external service providers into end-to-end services which deliver value to Shell.

    What is the Role?

    This Role will report to the IT Operations Manager  working in conjuction with other operations technology security stakeholders to  provide services as listed below:

    • Ensure the Safe, Secure, and Steady and Reliable production operations on Onshore/Offshore Fields Asset in Nigeria via sustained Process Control Domain (PCD) IT Controls effectiveness and preventing impact to asset integrity.
    • Ensure 1st Line Support and request management, SecurePlant and L2/L3 Firewall device management, Central Anti-Virus server & Patch deployment management.
    • Co-ordinate Logistics and Scheduling and Maintenance Planning for Control Systems IT Support personnel.
    • Supervise and Co-ordinate Core CS-IT activities for SNEPCO PCD activities including: Backup & Disaster recovery, remote access requests and management, end-point protection for hosts, implementation of configuration changes for hosts and network, inventory management
    • Carry out deviation management and risk assessment for all facilities within the Nigeria PCD space.
    • PCD assurance and assessments – physical security, backup and disaster recovery, remote access, Antivirus and Operating system patches.
    • Liaising with Technical Authority for production operations towards ensuring compliance of IT Security within the PCD.
    • Drive and Ensure the implementation of Incident Response and Management strategies
    • Embed Think Secure practices and raise PCD IT Security awareness of staff working in or interacting with the PCD.
    • Ensure the team complies with business controls (e.g. Management of Change, Permit to Work) for applying changes in the PCD IT landscape.
    • Ensure that Supportability & Transition is effective for IT- or business-led projects that deliver into the PCD IT landscape.
    • Monitor the quality of IT infrastructure services supporting PCD (e.g. WAN, Routers, SecurePlant) and ensure changes to those services do not impact operations without prior notification and approval.
    • Advise stakeholders on matters concerning PCD IT Security. Keep proper communication to site staff on imminent threats and on cyber security advisories, highlighting the recommended actions for the teams on-site.
    • Manage user access to supported systems (e.g. SecurePlant, Sharepoint Site).
    • Coordinate firewall rule reviews with the team members to ensure it is aligned with business requirements and have been risk-assessed appropriately.
    • Coordinate, along with the team members, the assurance activities of PCD IT Security controls implemented on-site – supporting both 1st Line of Defence (LoD-1) and 2nd Line of Defence (LoD-2) processes

    What we need from you?

     

    • With minimum 3-5 years’ experience in IT business analysis, IT security, IT service delivery and IT infrastructure support. The last three years must be managing operations technology security; Experience in an Oil and Gas industry is preferred.
    • Minimum Education or Certification: University degree in Electrical, Electronics, Communications Engineering or Applied Sciences (if further degree in Electronics or Communications Engineering),
    • Multiple years of experience in support/administration of IT infrastructure services. Completed Training or Certifications in cybersecurity industry certification such as GICSP or ISC2 CISSP is preferred, 
    • Certifications in networking, Systems administration  and IT service Management  such as CCNP (enterprise or security), MCSA, SC100,  ITILV4 are other Preferred  requirements
    • Relevant exposure to Process Automation and Controls Optimization disciplines.
    • Good knowledge of Control Systems, IT networks, and IT security
    • A strong understanding of IT security standards (DEPs, NIST 800-82, OneITCF)
    • Significant understanding of the Upstream business and Joint Venture concept
    • Experience with IT and Business Risk Management
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for diverse cultures and levels in Production and IT
    • Ability to manage relations with peers and senior managers effectively in various organizations

    Senior Control Systems IT Engineer

    The Senior Controls Systems Engineer is an operations technology security role that assures and manages end to end information and cyber security of all Process Control Domain (PCD) systems used in the production operations of Shell Nigeria   Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo).

    This role co-ordinates a team of IT infrastructure engineers and technicians that specializes in end-point security and secure network communications of computers that directly or indirectly support safe and reliable production in Shell Upstream Operated Units in Nigeria. This requires close coordination with Production Operations and Engineering disciplines to sustain & assure Operations Technology (PCD) Security controls effectiveness, aiming to prevent impact to Shell’s Production Systems Integrity.

    Key success factor for this role depends on tactical relationship management with stakeholders who are accountable for Operations Technology (PCD)/ IT Security controls, a good understanding of drivers for business risk appetite, and a skilled level understanding of the IT, Operations Technology (OT) and cyber security technologies.

    What is the Role?

    This Role will work in conjunction with the IDT P&E Capital Projects, IT Operations Manager and other operations technology security stakeholders to provide services as listed below:

    • Ensure the Safe, Secure, and Reliable of deployment of Operations Technology systems for SNEPCo Capital projects in Nigeria ensuring sustained Operations Technology (PCD)/IT Controls effectiveness across all phases of project from define to execute.
    • Provide input into Pre-Feed and Feed Deliverables for OT Security in Define phase and FEED contract ITT/evaluation.
    •  Provide input into PCD Detailed engineering design for Execute phase.
    • Co-ordinate Logistics and Scheduling and Maintenance Planning for Control Systems IT Support personnel.
    • Participate in projects peer reviews and health assessments and implement all recommendations.
    • Carry out deviation management and risk assessment for all facilities at Execute phase.
    • Engage with business stakeholders to determine business demand, understanding challenges facing the business as well as business feedback on services.
    • Liaising with Technical Authorities towards ensuring compliance of IT Security within the Operations technology (PCD) Security .
    • Drive and ensure the implementation of Incident Response and Management strategies for operations technology landscape systems.
    • Embed Think Secure practices and raise Operations technology (PCD)  and IT Security awareness of staff working in or interacting with Operations Technology.
    • Act as consultant to projects impacting Operations technology (PCD) landscape to ensure the solutions comply with the Operations technology (PCD) Security policies.
    • Ensure that maturity and compliance are assessed and transparent prior to handover to asset operations. Job tasks require a broad skill base in Telecoms, IT/Cyber Security and IT systems to effectively manage the variety of technologies and services.

    Field Telecom Engineer

    Where you fit in?

    The Offshore & Field Telecoms Support Engineer ensures reliable, secure, and safe operation of IT and telecommunications systems across offshore and onshore production, exploration, and operational environments. The role supports critical field telecoms services, maintains safety‑critical systems, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, site personnel, and vendors to deliver end‑to‑end telecoms and IT services that meet operational, safety, and business performance targets across Production and Wells facilities.

    You will act as a trusted technical advisor, support routine and emergency operations, contribute to project execution, and maintain high‑quality technical documentation while ensuring compliance with industry standards, including SOLAS and offshore safety regulations.

    The position provides services to meet the financial and operating performance targets of IT delivery within the IDT (Information Digital Technology) Capital projects team delivering not just Telecoms scope to remote site but inclusive of connectivity, End user computing, collaboration, hosting & Storage services working effectively with onshore, onsite support teams and 3rd party vendors to ensure end-2-end delivery.

    What is the Role?

    This Role will work in conjunction with the IDT P&E Capital Projects, IT Operations and other IDT stakeholders to  provide services as listed below:

    • Hands on and customer facing offsite support, ensuring Service provision and availability of all critical IT Systems Offshore.
    • Support and maintain Field Telecommunications Services, including legacy and modern systems.
    • Serve as a key member of the Field Telecoms on‑call team, responding to project/operational issues and emergencies.
    • Co-ordinate Logistics, Scheduling and Maintenance , Budget Planning for Telecoms team.
    • Participate in projects peer reviews and health assessments and implement all recommendations.
    • Drive to ensure that all IT services across Nigeria Capital projects, including offshore, are operational.
    • Maintain Telecoms sparing philosophy in line with risk profile obsolescence management.
    • Drive Offshore IT and Telecoms problem resolution activities and as delegate retaining ownership of all problems until close out.
    • Ensure the execution of planned preventive & corrective maintenance, inspection and tests of IT systems and Telecoms infrastructure components.
    • Contractor site Management with focus on goal zero and lifesaving rules in Nigeria Offshore workspace.
    • Ensure all Telecoms’ activities comply with the Marine & Land Transport safety policies as applicable.
    • Collaborate with onshore/offshore leads, integrated service providers, and third‑party vendors to deliver seamless telecoms/IT services
    • Actively participate and coordinate Telecoms Project Activities.
    • Provide technical advice to site personnel on telecoms and IT systems, highlighting risks and mitigation measures.
    • Technical Systems Management

    Maintain and troubleshoot:

    • Satellite and Microwave radio systems.
    • Mobile radio systems (preferably Motorola).
    • Telemetry and navigational systems.
    • CCTV systems.
    • PAGA (Public Address & General Alarm) systems.
    • Intrusion detection systems.
    •  Offshore communication technologies and equipment.
    • Provide technical advice to site personnel on telecoms and IT systems highlighting risks and mitigation measures

    What we need from you?

    • Minimum 6 years’ experience in telecommunication IT service delivery and support, of which preferably at least 3 years in Offshore IT Support.
    • Minimum Education or Certification: Minimum 4-year Degree Electrical, Electronics, Communications, Computer Engineering or Applied Sciences (if further degree in Electronics or Communications Engineering).
    • Knowledge of Security and Safety Critical equipment essential for SOLAS (Safety of life at Sea) like GMDSS, PAGA, RADAR and Inmarsat Satellite Systems.
    • Demonstrate awareness of other key Offshore technologies (like Stabilized Antenna, Telemetry and Navigational systems, various Radio systems, Weather Monitoring, Collaboration devices, Satellite Connectivity (LEO, MEO & GEO).
    • Proven record of delivering against stretched targets.
    • Demonstrable ability to engage effectively with all levels in Business & IT.
    • Experience with IT and Business Risk Management.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for diverse cultures and levels in Production and IT.
    • Ability to manage relations with peers and senior managers effectively in various organizations.
