    Shift Manager

    Job Purpose:

    • Why does the job exist?

    To coordinate and manage units and operations within the shift to achieve efficient manufacturing and deliver customer driven operational performance targets, within the defined budget.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • To ensure effective and efficient coordination of production operations to meet and deliver volume targets by due dates meeting specific quality standards as required by marketing plans
    • To ensure maintenance programmes are carried out promptly and continuous availability of equipment/machinery; ensure Health, Safety and Environment Management
    • To prepare reports (daily productions, forecast and plant compliance) to account for monthly variances and confirmation of monthly production plan
    • Managing team and individual performance through regular reviews, monitoring objectives and ensuring development needs are identified and actioned
    • Takes responsibility for compliance with all EMS related activities in the department in order to prevent, reduce or control environmental pollution arising from environmental aspects identified in the department as documented in the EMS Manual, Departmental Aspect and Impacts register, EMS related SOPs and other relevant documents

    Production Machine Operator

    Job Purpose:

    • The Packaging Operator is responsible for running and maintaining packaging department equipment (labellers, conveyors, casers, stackers, coders and other related packaging equipment) safely and efficiently to realise the site and business objectives. 

    Reporting Relationships:

    Reports to Production Supervisor and Technician

    Dimensions:

    • Will have working knowledge and experience with wrapper operations; watching for jams and effective bundling wrap to prevent cost downtime due to handler error.
    •  Load packaging material onto machines in a timely manner to ensure no line stoppages.
    • Inspect packaging, coding and seals to verify conformance to specifications and performs necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
    • Observe operation of equipment and perform necessary adjustments to ensure product specifications are met.
    • Ensure compliance to all Business Unit SOP’s and SOC’s (Standard Operating Conditions) and that all operations comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and provisions.
    • Prepare equipment for next run to include size changes as needed. 
    • Follow all required safe work practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
    • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
    • Documenting all his operations as it’s required and necessary.
    • Performing other tasks and activities as could be delegated by his supervisor.
    • Communicate any changes in product flow, equipment malfunctions, shortages or deviations from specifications to Production Supervisor, maintenance or other superior verbally and/or in writing.
    • Understands roles and responsibilities and the importance of conformity with the EMS requirements.
    • Implements and complies with EMS requirements relating to environmental aspects and impacts and other policies, procedures and/or regulations applicable to assigned jobs.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • To work with the Shift supervisor continually to improve plant performance while adhering to legislative and company standards.
    • To work closely as a team with other shift-based leaders to prioritise shift activity and deliver plant targets
    • Monitors Business Unit area performance through Short Interval Control; daily and weekly OEE tracker, identification of the 3 top losses and facilitate review of same.
    • Facilitate effective problem solving through agreed Lean Manufacturing techniques and generate Containments and Counter measures.
    • Good knowledge of how to identify areas for improvement (Process, skills, knowledge, attitude, machine etc)
    • To work with the production manager continually to improve plant performance while adhering to legislative and company standards
    • To work with the maintenance manager doing LLF and PPM to continually improve machine availability
    • Elimination/Reduction of downtime due to machine break down
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

    KEY ATTRIBUTES

    OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY (OH&S)

    Key Activities:

    • To be aware of the hazards in the workplace within his control, and the control measures to reduce the risk associated with those hazards.
    • Achieve 85% of action closure arising from monthly HSE inspection.
    • Achieve 95% compliance with behaviour-based safety (BBS) walk around.

    ENVIROMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) OBJECTIVES

    Key Activities:

    • Understand roles and responsibilities and the importance of conformity with the EMS requirements.
    • Implements and complies with EMS requirements relating to environmental aspects and impacts and other policies, procedures and /or regulations applicable to assigned jobs.

    QUALITY AND PLAN COMPLIANCE DELIVERY: GMP

    Key Activities:

    • Ensure that manufacturing operation meets stipulated GMP

    Key Accountability:

    • To have a good knowledge of GMP requirements and application on site in line with GMP standard (PZC GMP standard/NAFDAC requirements)

    QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (QMS) OBJECTIVES: (QMS)

    Key Accountability:

    • To ensure the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) and improve on the system.

    INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

    • To work with other staff continually to improve performance while adhering to legislative and company standards.
    • To work closely as a team with the Line Manager and other leaders as to deliver set objectives

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To ensure that all loaded/empty trucks are weighed in and out.
    • To mark the Halogen attendance, register when on night shift.
    • To supervise the activities of the Halogen security.
    • To ensure the proper documentation of the weighing bridge activities.
    • Reporting all security issues to the site security supervisor.

    Ethics and Compliance Manager

    Responsibilities

    • Embedding the Group Compliance anti-bribery and corruption programme across the business and maintaining a culture of compliance. Ensuring that, if required, we are able to demonstrate to a regulator that we have ‘adequate procedures’ in place to prevent bribery.
    • Total familiarisation with the PZ Cussons Code of Ethical Conduct and related policies/guidance and provision of advice to management and staff on effective use and implementation.
    • Maintaining high visibility across the business unit and assisting the business in resolving ethical dilemmas which may arise.
    • Recommending, and where necessary, implementing local procedures to manage specific compliance risks.
    • Provision of risk based focused awareness/training to management and staff.
    • Ensuring that new and existing suppliers are aware of our compliance requirements by involvement in appropriate Africa meetings or via a focused awareness programme.
    • In conjunction with Supply Chain carry out periodic compliance audits of high risk third parties.
    • Owner of the Africa Bribery and Corruption risk matrix and responsible for liaising with stakeholders to ensure that this is updated and agreed mitigation actions are delivered.
    • Liaising closely with the Group Head of Ethics & Compliance to maintain good communication and ensure consistency of process across the Group.
    • Developing an appropriate risk-based monitoring programme to provide internal assurance to the Managing Director: Africa and Group Head of Ethics & Compliance that policies and procedures are being complied with.
    • Developing trust across the organisation to encourage the raising of concerns and promoting a culture of ‘speaking up’ to enable appropriate remedial actions to be taken.
    • Assisting with or leading investigations following the Group investigation guidelines.
    • Could take up sustainability role within 12-18 months’ timeline as additional responsibility once confidence has been demonstrated in Ethics and Compliance via reducing number of incidents / investigations. A broadened role into sustainability will offer a succession line to Corporate Affairs and Sustainability role in Africa in future.

    Knowledge / Qualifications/ Technical/ Professional Experience

    • Self-starter with 7+ years of industry or consulting experience in ethics and compliance, risk mitigation, business process consulting in a multinational company.
    • Have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline - A Legal degree will be advantageous
    • Have excellent verbal and written fluency in English
    • 7+ years’ relevant Legal Compliance experience in an FMGC industry is an added advantage.
    • A good knowledge of anti-bribery legislation and requirements (e.g. UK Bribery Act, US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Nigeria / Ghana / Kenyan anti-bribery legislation).
    • Experience in developing and implementing compliance programmes.
    • Experience of interfacing with senior management and handling sensitive/confidential issues to a satisfactory conclusion.
    • Excellent interviewing and presentation skills.
    • Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
    • Strong behavioural and interpersonal skills that enable compliance to be achieved without recourse to a policing culture.
