Job Description

• Senior Engineer or Engineer Electrical Substations who shall be capable of Planning, Survey, Construction, Erection, Installation, EHS, Quality, Testing & Commissioning of Electrical and other Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and Review of Contour Survey
• Supervise and Review of Soil Investigation Report, ERT Report
• Preparation of L3 Schedule in XL sheet or MS Project
• Establishment of Site Office and other site mobilisation
• Coordination with Engineering Team for Timely delivery of Drawings at Site
• Subcontractor Finalisation
• Coordination with Logistics Teams and Warehouse Teams for Delivery and Storage of items
• Construction related to 330kV, 132kV GIS Substations, 132kV EHV Cabling, 330/132kV, 315 MVA Power
• Transformers, CRP & SAS etc.
• Erection, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of 330kV, 132kV GIS Substations, 132kV EHV Cabling,
• 330/132kV, 315 MVA Power Transformers, CRP & SAS etc.
• Prepare and Maintain the EHS standards at site
• Prepare and Implement Field Quality Plan (FQP) at site
• Getting hand corrected drawings at site for As Built Drawings Preparation
• Timely review of the drawings developed by the draftsman
• Ensure compliance to Specification Requirements
• Review of Vendor Offers and Documents
• Prepare and Review the Erection and Installation Procedures of Electrical Systems
• Prepare and Review the Testing and Commissioning Procedures of Electrical Systems.

Requirements

• Should have a Degree or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• Should have 10-12 years of relevant experience for Degree Engineers
• Should have 12-15 years of relevant experience for Diploma Engineers
• Should be able to do Planning, Survey, Construction, Erection, Installation, EHS, Quality, Testing & Commissioning of Electrical and other Equipment related to 330kV and 132kV GIS Substations, 132kV EHV Cabling
• Should be an Excellent Team Player
• Should be able to lead people size of 2-3 engineers.
• Should have an excellent Communication Skills.

Job Summary

• This position will be responsible for Design and Engineering work, planning and overseeing installation,Testing and Commissioning, Operation and maintenance all systems related to the Combined Cycle Power plant under general supervision.
• Preparation of Instrumentation Specifications, Philosophy, Lists, Requisitions, calculations, schedules and drawings for procurement, installation and commissioning of installations (Brownfield and Greenfield Projects) for Conceptual studies/Basic Engineering, Front End Engineering design (FEED), Detailed Engineering Design (DED) Projects.
• Must have Gas based Combined Cycle Power Project experience.
• The Instrumentation & Control system in CCCP shall consist of:
  • GTG Control system (SIEMENS T3000 or GE MARK Vie or other OEM equivalent)
  • STG Control system (SIEMENS T3000 or GE MARK Vie or any other STG OEM)
  • DCS Control system for complete CCPP (Yokogawa, Honeywell, METSO, SIEMENS, GE MARK Vie or equivalent)
  • PLC’s of different BOP packages
  • Field Instrumentation for GTG, HRSG, STG and BOP.

Main Duties

• Expertise in Design & Engineering, Engineering review and Comments, Installation supervision, Testing and Commissioning, Trouble shooting and O & M of I & C system of Combined Cycle Power plant.
• Supporting all the phases of project cycle from Concept, Design and engineering till Operation of complete Combined Cycle Power plant where little evaluation or ingenuity is normally required.
• Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures, standards and regulations.
• Review of Instrumentation drawings (location drawings, interconnection drawings, cable termination drawings, cable tray/route drawings, cable block diagrams, control system block diagrams, shutdown logic diagrams, function block logic diagrams, hook-up drawings for various instruments, layout drawings, junction box termination drawings, level coordination sketches,).
• Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule.
• Prepare/Review of control philosophy, P&I diagrams, cause & effect diagrams, instruments list, flow chart.
• Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
• Familiar with International codes, Standards and recommended practices for design and selection of I & C as described above.
• Prepare specifications for floating RFQs (instruments, control systems, control panels).
• Prepare engineering calculation spreadsheets.
• Takes entire responsibility for the execution of detailed design and ensuring compliance with the project specification.
• Should be familiar with interlocks and protection - wiring and instrument signals and drawings for both simple and combined cycle.
• Liaise with other departments, clients, vendor, subcontractors, third parties and approving authority.
• Participate in inter-disciplines, project, client, vendor, subcontractors and third parties meetings.
• Participate in design review such as HAZOP, SIL classification, Independent Design Review Constructability review, P&ID review and 3D model review meetings.
• Perform Inter-discipline check and Job assignments.
• Perform Instrumentation engineering review activities on documents/drawings produced out by other Engineers, Designers and CAD Operators.
• Prepare scope of work, man-hour and cost estimates for proposals.
• Provide professional advice to peers in Instrumentation engineering design.
• Coordinate with clients, contractor and consultants to determine project requirements, schedules and deliverables.
• Support design engineering responsibility and supervise work done by Installation and Testing technicians during project execution.
• Specify and set the standards for HSE requirements for I & C system of CCPP.
• Prepare estimates and schedules and assist in their review.
• Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project.

When at site:

• Co-ordination with clients, consultant, contractors throughout the entire Projects development
• Phase, attending meetings.
• Read and interpret drawings extracting relevant instrument engineering information required for Erection, Installation, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning.
• Participate in meeting with contractor’s supervisor to review drawings for scheduling and assigning work to keep up the project schedule.
• Supervise and Guide Contractor’s Supervisors for executing the work in Planned and systematic way.
• Involved in Instrument Installation, Calibration, Cable Laying, Termination, Calibration and Loop checking.
• Coordinates with operations and safety personnel to obtain work permit for planned work to be carried out during Commissioning Stage.
• Supervise Erection of assigned subsystems and also getting involved in commissioning activities to ensure system is fully and safely operational as per design.
• Report any anomaly or deviation in the construction document which can jeopardize the safety and functionality of the sub-system and plant operations.
• Ensure MEI contractors properly update the drawings, marking as red-correct so a proper as-built is available at the end of the project.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / I & C Engineering.
• 15+ years’ experience in power plant projects with specific experience with combined cycle gas-based power projects.
• Candidate should be competent to work with any GTG control system of any reputed OEM for Large Frame gas turbines + any of the reputed DCS Manufacturers.
• Should have a complete understanding of process ladder logics and its interconnections.
• 5+ years in the engineering of power plants in I & C
• Preference shall be given to candidate with previous experience working for the Owner, Consultant or EPC contractor on large CCGT projects.
• Readiness to travel
• Readiness to be at site based in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria as per project requirement.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks.
• Effective oral and written communication and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with the design team in the resolution of project-related issues.
• Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast paced multi-disciplinary team environment.
