    VSLA Officer

    Role/Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate the formation and capacity building of VSLAs
    • Monitor group savings, loans, and social fund activities
    • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and sectors for information sharing
    • Provide financial literacy training
    • Maintain records and provide regular progress reports
    • Link groups with formal financial institutions where applicable

    Tasks:

    • Community mobilization and sensitization
    • Conducting training sessions using approved VSLA curriculum
    • Routine field visits for mentoring and monitoring
    • Documentation of group dynamics and outcomes

    Other duties/additional tasks

    • Participate in project planning and review meetings.
    • Support data collection and reporting efforts.

    Required Competencies and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies or related field
    • Certification or experience in VSLA methodology is an advantage
    • Excellent report writing and communication abilities.
    • Understanding of project management and implementation.
    • Knowledge of statistical and qualitative analysis methods.
    • Ability to develop and interpret indicators and surveys.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to speak and understand the local language(s) is essential.
    • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
    • Basic understanding of child protection, gender, and social inclusion principles (an added advantage).

    • Minimum 2 year’s relevant work experience
    • Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures
    • Good skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Fluency in local language
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
    • An appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, confirmation of all documents, and security clearances.
    • The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.

    Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree or its Equivalent preferably in social sciences, International Development, Economics, Statistics or a related field from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience.
    • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
    • Strong understanding of human rights principles and international humanitarian law.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
